Essential information: please prepare in advance very set in/out times reflective of tide times. Please read the signs or look up in advance! limited shade and space on the shore. Be mindful of the fragile sand dunes. consider reef shoes to safely get into the water be aware of fees to enter national park there are drop toilets but no shade or tables

Absolutely stunning reef. Such a variety of things to see (coral and fish) with lots of room to spread out. The reef is very shallow so you can go a far way out but please wear flippers to avoid standing on coral 🪸.

This reef is best for experienced swimmers as often a strong current to the north plus lots of shallow reef that can be sharp or easily damaged.

The big obstacle to this reef is entering the water over sharp and slippery rocks so be careful and choose your entry point carefully. Watch children!

In addition to reef fish you may find turtles and reef sharks!

Cons: as you are limited by the tide this is probably not a beach that you will comfortably set up at for a long day as there isn't much space or flat sand amonsgt the rocks. disappointingly, observed lots of tourists walking on coral despite the many many signs saying not to. recommend a wetsuit to maximize your time in the water as you only have a small...

One of my favourite snorkelling spots in the world. Access to the water is through rocks, so care needs to be taken when getting to and out of the water. I prefer the place with low tide, but in this case water depth is about 1.2 m. However, there are plenty of corals, so it can be much shallower in fact in some areas (you have some sorts of "canyons" you need to navigate). As a rule of thumb, I would avoid touching anything in the water because it can be either dangerous (and poisonous) or delicate (and so get damaged or killed). So, if someone is not a good swimmer and needs breaks, I would take floating aids with me. Snorkelling gear is also a must! Although I did not take underwater pictures, we saw a couple of turtles here. In fact, swimming next to one has been one of my best experiences ever. There are plenty of parrot fish, other colourful fish and obviously coral as well: it is as if you were in an aquarium. Look out for octopuses, creayfish and giant green or...

It's probably the best snorcheling spot from beach access I tried on that shore . Beautiful coral gardens are starting just 2 meters from entering water. The shoreline is rocky with small patches of sand where entering is much easier. Area is very busy with parked vehicles on high tide when snorkeling is recommended. On low tide, corals can be easily damaged with fins, and you can scratch your hands and knees from coral, so refrain from snorkeling on low tide. Tides time you can find on information table close to beach entry. There is a dry toilet on carpark. On my snorkeling, I've seen big ray, turtle feeding on coral, nudibranch, and all possible reef fish of all possible colors and sizes. As I said, it was the best spot , as I tried 3 more around, and those were good, but not as great as this one. I'm a freediver and a big fan of snorkeling, I'm also a scuba enthusiast so if I'm saying it's great snorkeling spot, then it's is....

You can only go during high tide. This reef is protected, beautiful and non frightening to snorkel. It's bright and we had great visibility. We got in to the water on the right and let the current take us to the left hand side. We saw abundant fish life. And some brightly coloured corals and clams. We saw a small reef shark who was terrified of us and swam away. Definitely worth a planned visit. You cannot access it during low tide so make sure you plan ahead, best during lower swell and lower winds (we went twice and one one visit there was high swell but we still had a great time). This is such an abundant and interesting snorkelling spot to enjoy. The beach is covered in pebbles so it's not really a hang out spot. For more: follow us FB/Insta! @saltandcharcoalau
