Parked at the Drift Loop parking area so as to access the popular snorkelling spot. Once entering the water at the southern end of the beach, an amazing natural current flows from south to north, taking you over beautiful coral reefs. Read moreOne of the loveliest beaches in Western Australia. There are two beaches actually divided by a sand spit. The one to the left (facing the sea) is called The Drift and I forget the name of the righthand one.
The both have spectacular coral, fish, turtles etc and are perfect for snorkelling. The water of the lagoon is relatively shallow, calm and safe. Our 8 year old had no problems snorkelling accompanied by an adult.
There is a relatively strong current flowing along the beaches in the direction of the central sand spit where it flows out to sea. This means that you can "drift" over the coral without any effort. Just make sure you get out before you reach the spit where the current goes out to the fringing reef and the open sea.
