Beautiful gardens sparsely laid out all over the grounds. Mostly flat ground which makes walking easy for all ages.

SEATING & PATHWAYS Carved timber polished seats are conveniently located all over the gardens. Nicely positioned in most cases in the shade.

Pathways are easy to walk on asks quite flat. You could push a wheelchair with some difficulty, but not impossible.

GARDENS From orchid gardens, to nurseries, ponds and little wooden bridges leading from one area to another. Not as well planned out out, nor as formal as the Mount Cootha Botanical Gardens, but still enjoyable.

WALK TRACKS 800 meters to Finch Bay and over 1 km to Cherry Tree Bay. (Tip) Slip, slop slap a must along with...

Well maintained garden with easy access and with hard surface wide paths to explore. Great shelters offering a place to rest, or sit and listen to the array of bird sounds around you. A smaller garden offering a nice oasis from the warm weather. Amazing interpretation, with all plants signed appropriately, allowing you to learn about the collection. A must see place when visiting or driving near Cooktown. Take time to explore the surrounding sections outside of the fenced gardens. I particularly loved the First People's Grove section and information. If you have more time, a great start and end point for beautiful walks to lookouts and scenic bays. Allow a...

The gardens are great with lots of information at the base of all the plants as well as an invitation for people to take the fruit etc which is wonderful as every other place I have been strictly fobids that! So there is no rotten food on the ground.

There are walks that take you all the way to the beach and are used by locals getting fit with a great view.

The local cafe located inside is a little hit and miss but the seating is very pleasant with large fans in a shaded undercover area to keep you comfortable in hotter months. Inside is a little local history and museum stuff with the shedded skin of one very large Taipan. Well worth a look if you're...

Beautiful, well-maintained gardens in which to wander around. Definitely worth visiting if one is in Cairns. Great variety of plants and flowers. There were only a few visitors when we went, so we had a lovely relaxing walk, and the seating areas at key intervals were a nice touch to enjoy the peace and quiet and listen to the birds. They have a good cafe onsite as well, with great coffee and cake.
