I first came here as a child and met the original proud owner of this place who sat there all day in the open air museum he had created. A man who was like a fascinating book with so many stories. I am sure he was charging an entry fee much higher than the beautiful heritage building musuem and I remember the lovely ladies that ran it found the old boy a bit perhaps too colourful. He was the character. I passed through not long after his passing and at the time it was being deemed unsafe. I was watching tv tonight and I was telling this museums story so we hit Google. What a thrill to see this place still there. Also, what a wonderful job of keeping it better than it began. Read moreA nice little outdoor museum, just walk in, highlighting some of the old plant and machinery used by the pioneers of the area. Terrific really. Without these men and women, we really wouldn't have what we do now. Easy to stroll around, with plenty of information about the various exhibits. Wheelchairs as well, no worries. Followed this with the museum at the visitor information centre the following day....
