Cooloola Recreation Area, Great Sandy National Park — Attraction in Cooloola

The permit to dive through the national Park and on to the beach is worth it. Due to the rain the track was quiet hard and didn't require any effort but you could clearly see where there were possible track issues in the dry. If you are a novice or inexperienced 4x4'er I would recommend traveling with another vehicle but if you are comfortable with your and your vehicle's abilities it's a fantastic drive. The trip back along the beach to the boat ramp at rainbow beach was perfect with beautiful scenery changes worth...

Holy dooly there's lots and lots of people and cars. Like a highway, keep a good eye on kids running across the beach....don't forget the police and the speed signs!!! Also get off double island at the point well before high tide! Also getting on the ferry sunday afternoon might take 3 or more hours so just settle it. New portaloo requirements get checked by the rangers....so make sure you bring...

Beautiful beaches and area. Stayed in Zones 7&2. Only negative was zone 2 was extremely crowded on the weekend, people practically camping ontop of eachother trying to fit into the allocated zone. People driving erratically up and down the beach late at night, shining lights into people's camps and just being overall idiots. Highly recommend making the drive around the beach to double...
