We visited Great Sandy National Park with family, and it was a satisfying experience. The highlight for us was the diversity of landscapes—it’s not just about the sand! The rainforests were refreshing and full of unique wildlife. My kids loved spotting the birds and enjoying the open space for picnics.
The beach area is pristine, and the views of the ocean are amazing. However, accessing some parts was a bit challenging without a proper 4WD vehicle. If you’re planning to go deep into the park, come prepared. Facilities like toilets and picnic spots were clean, which made the visit comfortable.

   Read morePlace hasn’t had any maintenance on facilities or tracks in years despite growing visitor numbers - inland tracks are severely corrugated and overgrown with vegetation (great walk is closed due to the latter) and most of the camp sites have a heady mix of glass and rubbish mixed in with the sand.
Can’t have fires on the beach at all, can’t look around inside the wreck and you’ll be battling traffic on the beach that either won’t keep left or decides parking right across the through way is a great idea.
