I was all set to give a 5 star review for this admittedly lovely place until after 150 minutes of us staying there with no problems, having a good lunch and tasting their wines the ? owner dashed out and told us off in an uncalled for and headmistress / matron p(m)atronizing style how "your dogs need to be on the leash". Now our dogs were on the leash at the time but managed to venture away to a max of 5 meters from our table and one of them barked a little (well, he is a JR, what else would he do?) for one minute. No tables were occupied in our vicinity and only two other tables (unreachable by our dogs) were occupied at the time, it was 15:30, end of the lunchtime session.. None of the lovely waiting staff had any problems with our dogs for the 2 1/2 hours we stayed and neither did other tables. This literally happened in the last minutes of our stay and was totally uncalled for. I was planning to take a few bottles of wine home and recommend this place, but not with treatment like this. Dog owners beware. Addid after the owner's response. The owner's response unfortunately lacks veracity. We were not "asked repeatedly" by staff to have our dogs on the leash, because they were all the time. NONE of the staff made any comments in regards to our dogs during the 2 1/2 hours of our stay(because there was no need to). Our dogs never ROAMED AROUND FREELY. The owner did NOT ASK TWICE to have our dogs on a lead, she charged out and spoke in a patronizing and demeaning way during the last five minutes of our stay, when we were about to settle our bill. The dogs were near a sculpture of kangaroos then, trailing their leads, so that we can take a picture of them. If I did use abusive language at any point, I do apologize, but I was provoked and somewhat under the influence after the wine tasting. If the child needs ongoing therapy after briefly hearing my JR bark, please approach me and we may come to an arrangement to cover the costs. This whole incident was completely avoidable and solely caused by the unreasonable out of proportion and patronizing behaviour of the owner of this place. Shame it...
Read moreLoved this winery. Tucked away 5 minutes from Tumbarumba, it was the perfect little slice of peace and serenity. It has a beautiful deck that overlooks the vast vineyard and open land. We had a delicious platter to start us off, followed by 2 mains. They had sadly run out of the lamb koftas (so I do recommended ordering early) however we switched it for the garlic and prawn pasta and I feel it may even been better then what we were expecting with the koftas. The beef brisket burger was perfectly cooked and food service was quick and efficient. For the basic wine palettes like myself, they unfortunately don’t have moscato or sweet wines but the venue is so beautiful any glass of wine does the trick. We were celebrating a special day and the owners went out of their way to cut fresh flowers from their garden and place them on our table which was so sweet and kind. This winery is well worth the drive, we will definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and memories of such a special day for...
Read moreBooked for lunch on a recommendation. The setting is so peaceful and beautiful. Different sculptures create a special environment and chimes from tubular bells in various locations makes one want to meditate. Had prawns and pasta and it was simply delicious. Staff are extremely helpful and the service was excellent. Brian tends to the grounds and conversation with him was highly entertaining and enjoyable. His wit and sense of humour is amazing. Will definitely be back. Hats off to Cathy for doing a grand job.
Went for a second time and had Barramundi and that was delicious. My friends had the Duck and Gnocchi and they absolutely loved them. With all the guilt I could not resist the sticky date pudding and that was devine. As always Cathy and her assistant were great. Brian came to say hello and shared his humour albeit briefly as...
