Cowes Red Rock Beaches are Absolute Magic! ๐Ÿ–๏ธ*

I'm absolutely blown๐Ÿคฉ away by the stunning beaches at Cowes Red Rock on Phillip Island! The picturesque scenery, crystal-clear waters, and powdery sand make it a true paradise. The Red Rock beach is a hidden gem, with its unique red rocks and dramatic coastline. It's perfect for a relaxing day out, swimming, snorkeling, or simply soaking up the sun๐ŸŒž.

The beach๐ŸŒŠ is well-maintained, with clean facilities and plenty of parking. The nearby town of Cowes has a charming atmosphere, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and shops to explore. The beach is also a great spot for surfers, with consistent waves and a variety of breaks for all levels.

The area is also home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, making it a nature lover's paradise.

Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or just a beautiful spot to watch the sunset, Cowes Red Rock beaches have it all. I've been lucky enough to visit this spot multiple times, and it never fails to impress. If you're visiting Phillip Island, make sure to add Cowes Red Rock to your bucket list โ€“ you won't regret it!๐Ÿ‘

Must-visit spots:๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Red Rock beach: Snorkel or swim in the crystal-clear waters and explore the unique red rocks. Cowes Beach: Relax on the powdery sand, grab a coffee, and enjoy the views. Ventnor Beach: A secluded spot for surfers and those looking for a more peaceful experience. Nearby lookouts: Take in the breathtaking views of the coastline and surrounding landscape.

Tips:๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ

Arrive early to secure parking and enjoy the sunrise. Bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses โ€“ the sun can be strong! Respect the wildlife and keep a safe distance. Explore the nearby town of Cowes for some great food and shopping.

This is a terrific beach for families with older children as they can play on the rocks or swim in the sea, which is generally rougher and deeper than the beaches on the northern and eastern side of Philip Island.

There is a long strip of sand - yellow rather than white - but not much shelter so take an umbrella if it's sunny. Depending on the tide, you'll have a lot of sand, or not much, so it pays to check before you come.

Amenities are minimal. A small toilet block and BBQ, and limited parking, but at least you don't have to pay to park. It is only 3.5 km from Cowes, but it feels a world away in vibe, esp. during holiday seasons when Cowes is jam packed and you walk faster than cars drive down the main strip.

But it's the rocks that are the main draw. Apparently, rocks show red when they contain hematite, an iron oxide similar to rust. I'm not a mineralogist, so I'll take that as given, but whatever causes it, the faded red is more than skin deep - the names and initials carelessly carved into them shows that - and it is uncommon so grabs the eye. There are not many of the rocks, really, it's just a little spit maybe 100m all told when the tide is out. But rocks are rocks and you can't help but want to climb them, no matter your age, it's something primal. Unlike the typically sharper rocks of Western Port Bay, these are smoother - and slipperier - so take care scrambling over them, esp. when they are wet.

Red Rock beach is a lovely spot to relax when the weather is nice, and an easy walk when its not, just far enough out of Cowes to make it a trip, but it's a trip...

Nice away from the crowd beach but a lot of dried seaweed along the shores. Perfect for a coastal walk. Dog beach friendly but keep them leashed in case kids get scared. Fishing off the beach for some salmon and mullet and occasional flathead. Squid are supposed to haunt here but havenโ€™t managed to catch any. Car spaces are limited away from the main entrance. The toilet is clean, was amazed how clean it was compared to other public toilets around. Hopefully it stays that way. Please bring your rubbish home and do the right thing so we can continue to enjoy this...

Just a normal beach. Nothing really amazing. The parking lot is kinda small and it's right infront a persons house. The sand at the beach is really fine but there's a lot of this black thing which I'm not sure what it is. Decent toilet and an open shower together with benches and some BBQ pits. No 5 stars cause it's nothing amazing, but everything is good here.
