Feels strange reviewing a former POW camp, but I feel the need to so — what an incredibly heavy place. I don’t feel I respected the importance of this place while I visited a few days ago.

I can’t believe this is the location where so many were held during the war. The landscape is incredible, yet I truly feel for the Aussies that we’re stationed out here from the war, far from their own homes with the same amount of dangers… (and, although possibly controversial, but for the prisoners of a war they were forced into, whether physically or psychologically doesn’t matter.)

The breakout must have been unimaginable, and you really feel for the soldiers that lost their lives here in the bush. This place is a true reminder of how a terrible war can reach so close to home.

Thank you, Australia, for preserving and...

If you are interested in war history this is well worth a visit. Or even if you want to bring your dog it is leash free for them to have a run. Free to visit bring your bike or your good walking shoes cos if you want to cover it all there is a good gravel track all around the site and a new concrete path on the section on the other side of the road that wonders through the remains of the officers buildings. There are sign boards and map boards to explain everything and a QR code to scan to watch a video. It is so well done I was very impressed. There is only concrete foundations left from some of the buildings. But the area is so lovely and peaceful it’s hard not to enjoy it even without the historic value. I can’t wait to come back...

Although the camp buildings are no longer there, there are some remnant you can see, a replica guard tower & memorials. The speaker on the tower was really impressive and there are lots of informative signs throughout the area.

It is quite a large area to explore, we went on a warm sunny day so we decided to not adventure too far as there were alot of 'beware of snakes' signs & we had just seen an eastern brown snake at the adventure park nearby.

However the place is really interesting & i'll definitely come back sometime to explore more. I was also impressed with the Garrison Walk nearby that was being used by lots of people...
