i was on a solo trip and saw a friend posted this place! hardly do i see places with so many 5 stars and good reviews. the timings for my skydiving and this encounter clashed and thankfully they helped to change and i was able to flow my plans properly too! and i am so so glad i turned up even though i came slightly late. thank you Zara who really made me feel like i am home and also helped me overcome my fear of reptiles and birds! ☺️
i chose this place initially because i saw that we were able to be so close and even touch a wombat but this place definitely offer more than that and i can assure you, you will not find any other place like here!!
i couldn’t find the right words to described why this place made me feel all the warmth until i realised that Zara had been introducing every animal by their names that was given like Mary the goat, Diva the Koala (YES YOU CAN PET A KOALA PART OF THE TOUR), Simon the Barn Owl, Basil the wombat to Tiffany the Bettong and Sonia the wallaby!!
its alot of names and alot of animals to remember for so it really makes me happy to know the effort and love put into this place to let visitors experience and encounter Aussie animals!
if you’re near Great Ocean and 12 Apostles, just come by and you will not find any other zoos, sanctuary or wildlife park up to this.
i will definitely bring my children here in the future so please continue to support this...
Read moreThis is a personal tour with hands on experiences with loads of animals within the sanctuary. Bookings are required to enter (check their website!)
Situated on a private property within a residential area, you would first be confused and thinking you are going to someone's private home. You basically are, except that it also has ample land for a host of beautiful animals that love the human touch.
You will be greeted by a personal host who will let you hold various wildlife, explaining what they are and their behaviours. Kids will absolutely love it.
You'll then explore three distinct areas where you can interact more directly, feeding the animals with provided grain and fruit.
This is not like any other sanctuary out there. The animals are not over fed, they are all eager to come up to you and enjoy a pat and they are all very well looked after.
Compared to typical zoo encounters, this experience offers exceptional value for the diversity of animals you can interact with.
You can't beat this place with your kids if you are visiting Warrnambool.
Get up close and personal with pythons, lizards, wombats, wallabies, kangaroos, emus, koalas, chickens, goats, deer, parrots, owls and more.
Thank you, Warrnambool Wildlife Encounters, for reopening this fantastic family business, sharing your knowledge, and providing such a...
Read moreWe recently went here over the Christmas break with our 2 year old son and had the best time! The staff were so friendly, very knowledgeable and you could tell extremely passionate about what they do. I was pleasantly surprised at the small group sessions as it meant you could clearly see and hear the animals and the staff. It was interactive meaning one person from each family had the opportunity to hold each of the animals they brought out (snakes, kangaroo, wombat, possum). The staff were really patient and allowed for any photos or questions. After this we were brought outside and every person was given a bucket of food (yes every single person, adults and kids! There was no extra charge for this, something I’ve never come across before!). We got to feed the kangaroos, emus, deer, chickens, ducks, rabbits, geese and view the dingos, koalas and owls. I have been to a lot of wildlife/zoos/sanctuaries across Australia and this is my new favourite! I highly recommend going here, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks guys for a...
