EDITED I quickly received a call from the general manager Yale the day after I expressed my concerns. Yale was very understanding and professional about the whole situation which I highly appreciated. I knew immediately that the Islander Estate Vineyard are a company who really do value their customers and experience. Second chances do occur and within this circumstance it was granted :)
Hi, first time attending the Islander Estate Vineyard Ki with my partner and I. It was a very disappointing experience. I ordered the ‘Cheese Fondue Food & Wine Experience’, however only experienced the cheese fondue platter. Upon arrival we were greeted from a man who stated, “sorry I’ve been on holiday for 3 weeks”. The employee asked what kind of wine we wanted, and we went for the rose. Both those two glasses were put on a ‘tab’… The employee also said the wine does not come with the package. Thinking we would have been greeted to a “our team will treat you to a guided tasting of our Varietal and Estate ranges”. We unfortunately made our way out to be seated infront of the cheese fondue platter. My partner opened up the cheese fondue pot and there were pieces of hair in it…. We were immediately put off from eating. I then decided to have a look at what the package included which states, “select a bottle of your favourite wine to enjoy”.
My partner went inside and showed the employee what it actually said… and expressed how I have spent $240 on basically just a fondue cheese platter; no wine included and was going to be charged for the two glasses of rose. The employee asked what wine we wanted and proceeded to take a warm bottle from the shelf… luckily the lady there said to grab one from the fridge! It was just terrible for us to have to be asking and telling what is exactly included in the package. The employee working on the 27/03/20 @2:00pm had no idea what he was doing, and we definitely did not have a very enjoyable wine tasting experience; as we walked away without it. It was disorganised and not a welcoming experience; considering it was our anniversary as well. This is definitely a case of false advertising on their website!
I am not one to ever complain either! This was just an unfair experience for both my partner and I. My main concern is for people to be aware and to not get ripped off! I would HIGHLY recommend going to DUDLEY WINES! It costed $90 for my partner and I ($45 each) and we were greeted by Ray who welcomed us to a fabulous tasting upon arrival. This included a lovely glass of selected wine, cheese platter and a delicious pizza; which looks out a...
Read moreNice winery in a very unique location. Enjoyed a red wine premium wine taste flight which was very enjoyable with our friends and whilst I baulked a bit a the tasting price the wine was very good The service however was not in line with the premium wine tasting price and the gentlemen that serviced us may have been having a bad day; it wasn’t the most welcoming experience we had at KI One of our friends wanted a taste of of the semillion after the premium tasting however was advised that they had to purchase a full glass of the semillion , rather than purchasing a tasting sample of the semillion which was extremely disappointing. We both purchased wine on the day and maybe going forward you should provide the option of further sampling tastes be purchased on a individual basis rather than purchasing a full glass or another tasting flight Good wine that we will enjoyed and look forward to...
Read moreWe booked in for the Flagship tasting, Sophie and Sue were our hosts and they did a marvellous job at catering to our needs and the many other customers who turned up during our tasting. We made up our own tasting platter from the excellent selection of foods available and these were perfect accompaniments to our wines.
The cheaper wines, at $25 to $30 a bottle were very high quality. The more expensive wines, around the $45 to $50 mark were a step up again and the flagship wines were brilliant, with the Cygnet, 2015 shiraz being a standout. All wines attest to the excellent craftsmanship from the winemaker and high quality grapes.
The way The Islander do their tastings is a great model in wine tasting. I would highly recommend booking in for a tasting and purchasing food for a grazing plate, then sit back over a couple of hours and savour...
