Located on Jewel Caves Road, Deepdene, Western Australia, Australia 🇦🇺 This is an absolute MUST for anyone visiting the Margaret River area. You have to go in with a tour, you can’t go by yourself. The Jewel Cave Centre opens from 9.00 am until 5.00pm every day except Christmas Day. Jewel Cave is the largest show cave in Western Australia. It has three huge chambers. The tour is one hour long . I was awestruck by the crystal creations that have taken thousands of years to form. The first chamber is home to one of the longest straw stalactites found in any tourist cave in Australia. I felt so insignificant compared to the age of these ancient relics. The guide was also telling us about the now extinct Tasmanian Tigers that fell into the cave and perished. At the end of the tour, we chose to go on a self guided hike along the Karri Walk, the height and beauty of the trees was fantastic. We then had a drink at the Jewel Cave Cafe. It was great to look out over the forest. Overall, this was a fascinating experience. There are stairs involved so not really for people with mobility issues. The guide was really informative and took great pride in his job. He made the tour a lot more enjoyable and interesting. The natural beauty of the caves was wonderful. It was truly inspiring. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thumbs...

Amazing Cave Tour, But Disappointing Café Service

We've visited Jewel Cave multiple times and always bring visitors along because the guided tours are fantastic—highly informative and well worth doing! The cave itself is breathtaking, and the guides do an excellent job of sharing its history and significance.

However, on this visit, we spent some time at the café while waiting. My mum ordered a coffee and a slice of cake, which unfortunately seemed stale from being left out. When we politely raised this with the young woman at the counter, her response was extremely rude and dismissive, insisting it wasn't possible in a way that showed a real lack of customer service skills. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and resolved the issue, but the attitude and expression of the original staff member were shockingly unprofessional.

While we’ll continue recommending the cave tour itself, the café experience was disappointing. Perhaps better customer service training is needed, or some staff should reconsider if hospitality is the right...

Not all stingrays are friendly ⚠️ Read below 👇📍 Australia's bucketlist 8/100 Hamelin Bay, Western Australia. This was epic, and we were caught completely off guard. 🙌 Warnings: ⚠️ Never corner a stingray or touch it under usual circumstances or it may act defensively with its barb. ⚠️ You have to be gentle and respectful to all wild animals. We touched them softly, because they were swimming onto our feet and interacting with us. Tips for visiting 👇 🎣 Popular fishing spot which is why people think the stingrays come looking for peoples left over fish. 🪵 Hamelin Bay used to be a timber jetty port where timber was exported out. You can see the remnants of the jetty. 🌞 When visiting get there early in the morning and it wasn't too busy. 👙 It's a beautiful beach a swim so wear your bathers. ⛱️ Why do the stingrays swim up to you? Many people fish here, they maybe looking for fish! Please don't feed them. 🏕 You can stay at the local campground book in advance in the high season. 📷 Other local attractions are Jewel Cave and Augusta Absolutely awesome and a must see on your Southwest corner trip. . . #hamelinbay #Australia #visitaustralia #stingrays #australiassouthwest #giantstingray #visitwesternaustralia #westernaustralia #australianbeaches #stingraysofinstagram #marinelife
