La Villa Wines — Attraction in Devonport

Make sure you include this beautiful winery when in the north coast of Tasmania. A short drive from Devonport or Launceston. It's a stunning setting, modelled on an Italian farmhouse. You'll drive through their vineyard and park next to their apple orchards. The tasting room transports you to Europe. They've got lovely elegant wines, with some that are quite different. What a pleasant find. Definitely the best cultural experience I've had from a winery in Tassie. The site is set amongst amongst the vineyard mimicking an Italian villa. The grapes are sourced from Italy and aged in oak barrels here to give a truly unique flavour. One that I was pleasantly surprised with. One of the best pino noir I have tried for a long time - complex flavours though easy to drink. Fabulous vineyard in Spreyton, Met with a great warm welcome by Gail, set in an authentic Italian style house. Great range of wines with a focus on the Italian Nebbiolo grape as well as Tasmanian staples (Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir) and Gail shared interesting details about each wine, all made by the supremely talented Fran Austin.
