Mount Painter, a picturesque hiking destination located on the Ginninderra-Molonglo divide in Canberra. With its stunning views over northern Canberra and the scenic Molonglo River valley, Mount Painter has become a popular choice for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.

At an altitude of approximately 735 meters above sea level, Mount Painter offers a refreshing escape from the city below. The Mount Painter Summit Walk is a well-known trail that spans approximately 3.7 kilometers and takes about an hour to complete, providing visitors with a delightful hiking experience.

As you embark on the Mount Painter Summit Walk, be prepared to immerse yourself in the natural beauty that surrounds you. The trail leads you through diverse landscapes, showcasing the unique flora and fauna of the region. Along the way, you may encounter various wildlife, so keep an eye out for birds, kangaroos, and other native animals that call this area home.

During the summertime, it's important to be aware of the possibility of encountering snakes along the path to the summit. While they are a natural part of the ecosystem, it is advisable to exercise caution and stay on the designated trail. As with any outdoor adventure, remember to wear appropriate attire, including sturdy footwear and sun protection, and carry water to stay hydrated during your hike.

Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of both northern Canberra and the tranquil Molonglo River valley. Take a moment to soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscape and capture memorable photos of your journey.

Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a casual nature enthusiast, a visit to Mount Painter promises an enriching experience filled with natural wonders and awe-inspiring vistas. So lace up your hiking boots, embrace the serenity of the outdoors, and embark on the Mount Painter Summit Walk for an unforgettable adventure in the heart...

It is quite a lovely hike. I started from the trail besides Bindubi street near the entrance to Black mountain. The first half of the trail is very easy for anyone. The second half of the trail after you enter the park is slightly steep, beginners should take it slow and easy (I personally found the entire trail very easy). There are three lookouts each with absolutely spectacular views. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone. There is also a separate horse trail if that is your jam. It took me half an hour to get up and down including the time spent taking...

Mt Painter Nature Reserve is very good for walking exercise particularly on a nice day. We parked at Bindubi and walked up via the horses trail (a bit steep but good exercise). The view is very spectacular!!! We had a clear day, and we had a good Canberra view both North and South. Good outing for families and groups. Dogs are allowed on leash. Not pram nor wheelchair friendly as most walking trails are gravel. No...

Top walk, top views, several ways to go up. Most come up the sealed path, access on the side of the water tank behind Cook. There is short sharp climb on the side facing Black Mountain. More adventurous is access next to the Community Garden on Bindubi.

For a short walk it is scenic and short, there is patches of steep incline ascents however it is rewarded with the view of sweeping developing lands and mountains. Pretty windy on certain days. Also all in favour of naming it Arlo's point?
