Black Mountain has a number of tracks that provide interesting walks in the heart of the city. The Nature Reserve Forest Trail is an easy 2km circumnavigation of the summit with excellent views out over the city on the Eastern slopes and to the Brindabella Range & Lake on the Western and Southern parts of the route. There is a marked difference in vegetation between the Eastern & Western slopes. Plenty of wild flowers in spring. Bird life as well. Easy walking & ideal for a short family walk with younger children or as an introduction to Canberra for visitors. Plenty of parking at the start...
