Goorooyarroo offers a variety of stunning views over Canberra and the northern suburbs. It's easy to walk to the top of Burnt stump hill in only fifteen minutes from either of the two parking areas off of Horse Park Drive. For those with more time and energy, a walk to the top of Old Joe Hill is rewarded with even more expansive 360 degree views. On a clear day you can even see the windmills on the far side of Lake George. The relatively open landscape makes it easy to walk "off track' virtually anywhere in the reserve -- although gaitors are recommended during November and December because of all the burrs and grass seeds that appear at that time of year. You may get lucky and see a shingle-back lizard or echidna foraging across the grasslands. And, of course, you are virtually guaranteed to see some of the many mobs of kangaroos that live in the park.
