Great experience for the kids and train enthusiasts. Staff are friendly and the multiple trains ensures you’re not waiting too long for a ride, even in the freezing cold Canberra winter. Needs some big improvement in the cafe. Took almost 30mins just to get served with only 4 in front of us. Then we got told the food would take another 30-40 mins. Staff were very flustered and inexperienced. Understand this is a volunteer experience but you need to offer something a bit better or at least just make it premade meals. Coffees tasted terrible and our toddlers baby chino was scorching hot, to a point it would not cool before we left. Come prepared with own food and drinks and this will be a great time out for the family.

Great staff, very well maintained trains and tracks, the train bridges look strong enough to drive cars on. Alot of planning and effort has gone into putting it all together. Food is good Just the right price and very enjoyable, again staff were excellent and friendly The birthday area is fenced off to keep the little ones in and still close to everything with seats and BBQ access. Will definatly be returning next open day Keep up the good work 😊

I’ve been 3 times with my 4 & 2yo, staff are really friendly, super fun for both kids & adults. Awesome how rides are unlimited so it’s definitely worth it. Wait times to hop on a train aren’t too long during busy times. Highly recommend on a nice sunny day! 🌞

The Canberra Society of Model and Experimental Engineering, which operates the Canberra Miniature Railway, caters to a wide set of model engineering interests including steam, electric and petrol locomotives, traction engines, clocks, and boats.

The Society builds, maintains and operates a set of miniature trains of different types that carry passengers around approximate 1.5 kilometres of track at their location in Symonston, Canberra, ACT. The engines are replicas of real locomotives.

The Society hosts public running days twice a month where visitors can come and ride the trains for a small fee for unlimited rides - children under 3 years are free! Food and drink are available on site, and the running sessions are typically 4 hours in length. Party bookings with a barbeque are also available for special occasions like birthdays, and even entire site bookings are available for large...

Train derailed and no safety check with the riders/kids neither no apologies.

Most of the parents or elders were charged for entry fees whether you take the ride or not. Some came to see their kids enjoy the ride but still you got to pay it denied entry at the gate.

The train has 3 seating platforms one for each family of 3 maybe.

Maybe fun for the kids after dark with colorful lights, not that great for parents.

(Thanks for the reply, there is no option to reply for your comment. Yeah it's my decision to come in or sit it out. The feedback is an info for others to know as a Google reviewer in this platform)

(Also a note for others, the kid started to panic and cry that's why they couldn't hop-back on and took...
