Stromlo is Disneyland for Mountain Bikes with something for everyone from toddlers to world champion downhill racers. Next to the car park is a large paved area where kids and scooter riders can run around in circles, there's a beginner set of dirt jumps next to the cafe, big clean bathrooms, a great cafe, and the whole place is well sign posted with some fantastic long tracks that scale the adjoining Mt Stromlo. I'm an amateur with a basic bike and few skills, but I had a great time here, and the trail maps and signs are well set out allowing you to explore the entire site with ease. There's a huge parking area out front, and even on a busy day you won't run into too many riders once you get clear of the cafe and car park. There's a number of hour long well-graded tracks that gently scale the mountain then give you a 15-20 minute downhill blast, but also some deadly black runs if you want to risk broken bones and impressive grazes. And if you're here just for fun, and no exercise, there's a bus that will cart you and your bike to the top for $10 a run,...

This is an amazing place, it's within 10-12km of the city and is a place to explore and to have fun. It starts with a roundabout entry with deciduous trees planted along the road. Which opens up to a large dirt car park and large grass fields to the left and Mount Stromlo on the right. There's a large amenities block with roofed viewing platform that overlooks the running tracks and the road bike tracks. In the distance you can see Woden Valley, Lake Burley Griffin, Telstra tower and the City in the distance, all surrounded by vegetation and deciduous trees, and large Parklands. Canberra is very pretty City! The whole area is surrounded by walking trails and Mountain Bike Tracks along with the new Pump and BMX and Training Tracks closer the parking area. Mount bike tracks are divided into grades of ability with ranging from low to extremely high, which is sign posted. The tracks are renowned and has hosted a range of events throughout the calendar year! So if your into bikes, running, walking, nature, views and Kangaroos, Stromlo is the...

Beautiful mtb park..

Mount Stromlo hosted some of the best and oldest mountain bike trails in Australia. In May 2006 extensive remedial work and trail reconstruction was commenced by World Trail in partnership with Canberra Off-Road Cyclists mountain bike club and the ACT Government. Stromlo Forest Park now includes more than 35 kilometres (22 mi) of cross country single trail, a Four-Cross course, several observed trials areas and a downhill track.

Mount Stromlo hosted the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships that attracted more than 30,000 visitors from up to 40 countries. The event involved more than 750 of the world's top riders who competed in the four mountain bike disciplines of Cross Country, Downhill, Four Cross and Observed Trials.

In addition to the mountain biking facilities Mount Stromlo also boasts an event pavilion with office space and change rooms, a kids play area, BBQs, a road cycling criterium circuit, a groomed grass cross country running track and equestrian trails.

Great for MTB (Mountain Bike Riding) for varying levels of skill. Despite recent criticism levelled against the ACT Government (possibly justified?) there is still a lot of appeal, complexity and variety of single-track riding trails over a broad area of the park. It will be interesting to see how the new Aquatic Centre development helps generate an as yet untapped market. And whether it will draw more people and generate more interest in Stromlo Forest Park as a go-to location for a greater range of sporting activities. Pay parking at the main car park is now live and active. As long as the revenue is truly put towards the management, maintenance and repair of the park trails it will be great. However the trails are still great, extensive and of a variety of challenges to suit beginners, mid level and skilled cross country and downhill riders. They have also continued to develop the trials and skills areas of the park.
