One of its kind experience ! It’s surreal to witness the moon, mars and Jupiter and it’s own moon and many different stars. It’s a must go place for the experience itself. I thoroughly enjoyed it !! Friendly staff and I think the host is annoyed because of naughty kids in the past - so if you are bringing anyone under 18 make sure you all behave and don’t move things!! I think it takes hours of hard work to set things up - so be careful when you walk around and extra cautious about not adjusting or accidentally moving the telescopes. There is another 1:1 mid night photography sessions - if you are serious about photography you should try (I haven’t tried it) Finally - a place you must visit ! Note : plan a no moon or half moon sort of days with less cloudy or no rain nights ! (That’s recommended)

We had a beautiful clear night for visiting Dubbo Observatory. Friendly staff, very welcoming. A small selection of items and postcards available for purchase as a souvenir. A talk given while scopes were being set up was outside, rather than in their small theatrette. I personally would have held talk inside sitting down before going outside to point out astronomical highlights, as it was a long time to be standing about.. Witnessed with the naked eye at least two satellites and two shooting stars during our session, which we were thrilled to see. A great time was had by all. Would recommend if you are interested in our universe. Best time to go would be a clear night with no moon.

there are very few places where we have enjoyed and learnt so much at the same time . Peter Starr who runs the place is extremely polite , kind and cannot stress enough - knowledgeable about the stars . Peter showed us so many celestial objects, took photos on our SD card and patiently responded to our questions. in all we spent close to 2 hours in company and can strongly recommend as a must visit place.

Did the premium tour so I had a small group which made it well worth while for me. The session lasted about two hours and the weather Gods provided a perfect crystal clear sky.

There are a number of professional high grade telescopes of varying sizes and you get to see with binoculars also. The differing views is quite interesting and it's interesting to compare the same object viewed through the different devices.

We got to see many clusters including the pinwheel and it was great to see it through the different devices. We saw saturn and its rings and some of its moons. Various constellations were pointed out and a laser pointer is used which is amazingly accurate in indicating the exact star so you know precisely what is being talked about. We even got to see other galaxies.

Peter knows so much about the skies it really comes across and he helped fill in so much knowledge gaps for me. I asked about a particular comet and Peter was very obliging by not even finding it for me on the big telescope so I could see it but also taking a photo of it for me as well.

I was interested in buying a telescope so it was interesting to see the different models and sizes in actions.

Totally amazing experience in opening your eyes as to how tiny we are in the overall scheme of things. Thinking of returning in a few months when the stars have changed to learn and see more of what is out there.

Dubbo is lucky to have an observatory of...

Went last night and wasn’t impressed at all. Told to arrive early yet they make you wait outside the locked front door in the freezing cold for 15 minutes. Finally get let in and checked off another ten minutes passes while being told to stand and not go anywhere in the first run down room….. Finally taken to view the slide show, no body cared about…. Not much seating in the ice cold took forever and boring kids were not interested in it at all… finally can look at telescopes woohoo first one someone knocks and out of action! 8 open total and 50 something people so every one had a line of people! Husband and wife team NO staff and just very unprofessional with how it’s run and the wait of it all. Another staff member could of atleast helped…. Heating inside would be nice while you could wait in there for a turn even, we had old people on tour last night ice cold…. A heater outside inside of light projector would be better 😳 red light heater vs the white light you tell us we shouldn’t look at

Smaller groups and shorter times would allow everyone to see the stars but instead you could see it all about how much money they could make each night on it, defiantly not about a good experience and learning about stars and solar system that’s for sure…..

Wouldn’t waste the money on it that’s for sure we are a family of 5 so wasn’t cheap for a...

As a child I was so obsessed with stars and astronomy so it was a dream come true for me when I visited this place Got so much fascinated with this place that looking forward to visit this place again in future Peter our guide was so friendly and expert in his field I got the chance to see the Saturn rings, moons crater and many things and believe me Saturn rings looked exactly the same as we seen in the books Highly recommended this place for astronomy lovers ❤️ Good place for kids to learn Ample amount of parking also available at this place Icing in the cake was that only we and our two friends were left at the end so we got the chance to see the Saturn rings from other telescope also that too good a longer time Memories are still fresh in my mind for my visit to this place We went to this place as our road trip from Sydney And our experience turned out to be a beautiful one So sydneysiders I suggest you to definitely plan a trip to this place you will never regret and of course this going to be a good adventure for your children Looking forward to your visit to this...
