Martiam — The Great Falls
Long before the cartographer’s hand, Before fences, names, and maps of land, The waters thundered down these ancient walls — This place, Martiam, the Great Falls.
Here, the Guy Fawkes River does not flow — It plunges, fierce and unforgiving, A warrior’s cry cast into stone, Two mighty torrents in eternal living.
Stand where the Gumbaynggirr once stood tall, Their stories etched in waterfall — Not in ink, but in the mist and roar That echoes through this canyon’s core.

When we visit the Ebor Walking Track along the ridge line was closed after the infrastructure had been damaged during the 2019/2020 bushfire emergency. The view of the waterfall is good. I read that decades ago locals were lobbying for a suspension bridge across the front of the waterfall - I think a suspension bridge would be the icing on the cake for this tourist stop. There is no cafe or shop at this location - but the Ebor township is located only a few minutes...
