The tower itself and their lookouts were gorgeous. Lovely outlooks into Twofold bay. Having traveled this lovely country it is always so upsetting to see how often you must pay some form of a fee to see these wonderful bits of nature. And what was provided was a parking spot. It seems in my travels only the National Parks seem to charge a fee for everything. It’s not right to capitalise upon nature and sell it as product. These things should be free and accessible to all people. Perhaps if they charge fees for upkeep of these places they should not have so many parks. Perhaps they need to hand over parks back to State Forests and such so National Parks can upkeep what they have and then people can access these places for free. Nature and its wonders should not be dictated by how much...

Boyds Tower is located in the Beowa National Park, probably about 5 minutes (or less) from the bitumine. Carpark is very accessible, many parks also. Fee for being in this park is only $8 for the whole day (this helps to maintain and or build in the national park, it also covers the whole of the national park). The walk and all the signs are a wonderful, and I must say that the track it's self was great. It will also allow access for wheelchairs, prams or anything of the sort. Toilets are also available for anyone and everyone (and yes they are drop dunnies but they do the job and are clean with running water for washing hands). Oh and I forgot don't forget to bring your camera as there is quite a few stunning views...

It's worth the drive to see this tourist spot and read about its history. The nearby wharf is also well worth visiting when it's open to the public. We also went to the old Davidson whaling station nearby, which was totally worth the drive along 4 km's of dirt track to get to. If you do go to the whaling station, be sure to take some insect repellent with you, as we all got bitten (a lot) by sand flies on the small beach near the cottage. It was still worth seeing though, so don't let the sand flies put you off...

As luck would have it a beautiful warm mid winters day and a perfect day for visiting Boyd's Tower It was such a shame as the parking ticket machine was out of order, and I couldn't make the required payment What a lovely and well presented path for a leisurely walk to the tower I was greatly rewarded with fantastic views in just about every direction. To me, this is a must-see in the local area. The stonework now having lasted 184 shows off this lovely tower.

Mixed feelings about this one, such a beautiful point, whales breaching, seals, Eagles and birds fishing. The Boyd tower reminds of a period in history which I'm glad is over however you have the wood chip mill on the headland next to you. I can't but think that in 50 years we will look back and say the same thing about the mill. A part of history which I will be glad is over. The logging in the state Forest on the way to Boyd tower is not sustainable.
