The life and times of an imaginative and succesful icon should be celebrated with a fantastic display. Alas, this does not happen at the static Learning Centre to the standard that RM Williams deserves. Yes, the short video of his life and vignettes of former staff/family are worthy items but there is more to the story and much more evidence of his achievements that are totally missing. The bulk of items were the artworks of local folk with no relevance to RM Williams or learning the crafts he excelled in. And most of the the wall material were images of local folk baking scones, auctioning cattle and posturing for unexceptional events that may have been interesting in the local news several decades ago = nothing about bush learning. You can learn more at any RM Williams shop with items far more attractively displayed, or better still, go to the Stockmans Hall of Fame for the full story and learn how the famous boots were made. Read moreWhat an amazing chance to purchase from a local craftsmen my cherished leather belt. I managed to converse & provide details on my requirements of my prized belt. We had the privilege of staying at the RM Williams educational centre during the 60th anniversary of the polo cross tournament. We enjoyed the atmosphere & thrill of the thundering horse & riders. Outstanding horsemanship & sportsmanship. We witnessed more experienced riders training up the next generation of riders with patience & skill. Just a little sad to hear this may be the last due to lack of players & volunteers for Eidsvold club . Congratulations to those who have kept the region together till now hoping to pass the baton on to the next generation. Your dedication & hard work was not...
Read moreVery interesting to get to know about the Australian Bush Life and the R M Williams Label, created by this man and his family. Do not expect too much, however the clear and honest truths of the rover legends (film Australia with Nicole Kidman) become visible here, so Learning Centre is the correct name. Spend some time along the A 3 here and pay the 5 AUD per adult or spend the night on the car park with your rig / you will not regret this at all. We took some photos, learnt about knots and more plus Aboriginal symbols and moved on. Worth a stopover! Will visit the ADL...
