🏖 Etty Bay, FNQ 🏖

Check out this magical little cove just out of Innisfail. 🌿🐳

We remember seeing Aussie Destinations Unknown staying here and knew we had to check it out while we were in the area. 👍

We got to meet a few of the locals too. A cheeky cassowary came strolling along the picnic areas scavenging food. He did break up one party's lunch and let's just day he was very persistent! The lifeguards had to come over to try shoo him off, but he wasn't budging.

The friendly, resident goanna seemed to be wandering around like he owned the joint. 😄

The kids were happy surfing waves for about an hour when Allan swears that he spotted something suspect in the waves (it was rather croc-shapped). The lifeguards assured us it was probably a turtle as there hasn't been a croc sighting around there for ages... I guess we will never know. 🤔

Anywho, we got out of the 💦water and headed back to the Johnston River in Innisfail for a spot of croc spotting. Success - we saw our first two salties! 🐊🐊

Talk about experiencing Far North Qld all in one day!

Etty bay is by far the most picturesque beach in FNQ, and my all-time favourite beach to visit.

It is national part and not dog friendly, while its no fun for you furry fren to get fomo, you get to enjoy the view, and tranquillity of this beach with its native resident dinosaur chickens and dragin size goannas, without ypur furry pal losing a limb.

Its not encouraged to feed the wildlife. However, sometimes they give you no choice! They do get quite close and personal, so make sure you pack your luch in an esky so you don't end up sacrificing you sammich to these land gods!

If you have your penut in tact you'd not be so bold as to persue the dino chookie or wingless beasts, because they are heckin dangerous when threatened.

Its a great time, and a wonderful experience if you use your noggin!

Stay smart, kiddos! Enjoy nature at its finest...

One of the nicest beaches in North Queensland Shady trees and white sand home to the Etty Bay Surf Club the beach is patrolled please swim between the flags it has a stinger net for the stinger season. A kiosk serving good fish and chips/ burgers and a small Caravan Park with beach huts accommodation right on the beach .Small playground for children. Free public Telstra phone booth. No Mobil phone reception. Clean utilities and separate new toilet and shower for disabled. Resident Cassowaries that walk down from the hilly range to walk along the beach daily. It's in the Cassowary Coast, and the kiosk and caravan park is owned and leased by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council. No dogs allowed as the scrub/rainforest is Heritage listed. Please do not feed the...

What an absolutely stunning beach! No housing here except for the owners of the Etty Bay Campground, but there is a little beach bar and restaurant. Parking is 3 metres from the beach itself, which has been thoughtfully planned to include accessibility to a few picnic tables, free to use electric BBQS, a beachside shower and plenty of rubbish disposal facilities. Stinger-Nets are deployed along the beachfront out into the ocean, so swimming is possible, but remember that this is Croc-Country. Walk in either direction from the main parking area and you can explore the rockpools and cliff face. Public bathrooms are available to use, adjacent to the campgrounds. If you are lucky, you may even see a Cassowary. 😉
