The F111 museum in Evans Head is a fantastic aviation museum that has a wide range of military aircraft on display. The centre piece of course is a lovingly restored F111, but many other aircraft from different eras are also on display. I especially liked that adults and kids can enter some of the exhibits and experience the sometimes cramped conditions inside old military aircraft, to get a sense of all the buttons, dials and instruments. Our four year old daughter loved the Caribou! The museum also offers information panels, specs, history and other interesting items that relate to the aircraft, RAAF history and the Evans Head Aerodrome. The museum is run entirely by knowledgeable and kind volunteers and we were lucky enough to get a tour of the F111 with Joel who used to work on this type in the RAAF. He has a wealth of knowledge and many interesting anecdotes to tell about this plane. Definitely visit here when you're in the area!

Stumbled across this accidentally, and so glad we did! A very interesting part of Australian aviation history, also an opportunity to get up close to the F-111 "Flying Pig" which not only served for a long time in the RAAF, but also did the glorious " dump and burn" fly-by at Brisbane's Riverfire event many years ago. The place is run and maintained by volunteers who are passionate about aviation and preserving this part of Australian history, and receive no funding from Government or Council. Support this worthy cause!

Excellent for the aviation enthusiasts. Only $10 entry and it’s all run by volunteers. I paid the extra $50 to get the F111 cockpit tour which was really interesting. Joel, who did the cockpit tour was an ex F111 navigator so he knew lots about the aircraft. You have book for the cockpit tour and I think you can get a photo of you in the cockpit for $10-20. Photo is included with cockpit tour.

Absolutely brilliant day at this museum. It's jam packed with loads of information and you can relax watching videos from pilot's and engineers. The staff are also very welcoming, and they too have even more information on the aircrafts in museum too. The little gift shop is great you can buy models, books and my favourite the little badges of all aircraft✈️ great souvenir. 👍

Absolute ripper F111 and more! There are lots of awesome surprises packed into this little museum. Total bargain at $10 entry. Show yourself around or ask one of the fantastic guides to give you the run down. You can even climb inside some of the aircraft or get a wicked photo, and there are great models and merch for sale. You won't be disappointed!
