We are most grateful for the presence of the hut and many more huts in the Alpine Region. Always good to know there is an emergency shelter in case we need one! Our group of 8 women did a 4 days pack carry (8-11/2/2018) to Falls Creek and this was the place we spent our first night as the Cope Hut was filled with students! Lucky kids! We had to camp 200 meters away. The camp ground was a lovely carpet of grass! I did not require a floor mat for the first time of my life! Wow! That was the same for the next night at Fitzgerald Hut. We had to drive 2km down the road to Langford Gap to collect water for the day. The sun rise was just so refreshing! We hope everyone keep the huts clean and well maintained for many generations to come! Nothing beats outdoors and the freshness of the country areas!!

We visited Wallace Hut and Cope Hut on the 25/4/2023. Had a wonderful time hiking and enjoying the sights. The huts are beautifully preserved and present a step back into the good old droving days. The kids loved the scenic views and the walks. We used the AllTrails app to make a good, easy hiking circuit of 7km that included seeing both the huts. A lot of oldies were having a stroll and some even more adventurous parents with young kids who were trekking for a couple of days. Grab a water bottle, hat and if you up for a good hike take a day pack and have a picnic up on the hill, beautiful sights and don't forget your camera. Oh and there are long drops at all the huts.

Small walk of 700 m to and fro. Wasn't much of a historical place but what I really loved about it was walk amidst of snow gum tree.. Old ones which were burnt in bushfire and new ones growing from the base up.. Reminded me somehow of Lord of the rings..huge bushlands..great for enjoying nature and peace..

There are no facilities at carpark. There's a toilet at Wallace Hut but it's a fair walk (the access to hut is closed to public vehicles at all times).

The road to the carpark (Bogong High Plains Rd) is closed generally from Queens Birthday weekend until Melbourne Cup Weekend.

Please take your rubbish as no bins are here. Domestic animals are forbidden as its a...
