Admiral's Arch gets a lot of glory as one of those must-visit destinations on Kangaroo Island. Yet the walkway to it is absolutely stunning, if not mesmerising.

To get to it, you have to venture into Flinders Chase National Park, on one of the most southwestern points of the Island. Getting there is a true winding adventure through some of the most rugged wilderness reaches. Don't be surprised if you see way more animals that kangaroos. We saw plenty of short beaked echidnas waddling beside the road and into the undergrowth; a large gaggle of Cape Barren Geese with their deep, husky honking; wild turkeys; wallabies; heath goannas; Adelaide Rosellas (lots) and of course the loveable sealions.

On arrival at the parking lot, you are greeted by a stunning vista in almost every direction. The ocean swell heaves and rises and falls as the waves push against the cliff rocks or are twisted around a small island a few hundred metres away. A wooden broad walk leads you down on a gentle incline at first, followed by a steeper metal walkway, which hugs the contours of the cliff and inclines steeper as you approach the Arch.

There are rest landings on the way down which are great viewing platforms too. Pay attention to the rocks: seals are possibly and probably hidden amongst them and the vegetation. For me, I found the breaking waves hypnotic and so powerful, amplified by the white swirls and foaming breaks. Even the deep colours or blues and greys are captivating.

Of course, the end of the journey is the "pièce de résistance", the main prize. The beautiful Admiral's Arch and a stunning aperture through which you can...

Admiral Arch is an absolute must-see on Kangaroo Island! This incredible natural rock formation, shaped by thousands of years of wind and waves, perfectly frames the wild Southern Ocean. The rugged cliffs, hanging stalactites, and crashing waves create an epic, dramatic scene.

One of the best parts? The New Zealand fur seals! You can spot them lounging on the rocks or playing in the water below. If you visit in December, you’re in luck—it’s their birthing season, so there are plenty of adorable pups around, making the experience even more special.

The boardwalk down to the arch is an easy walk with stunning coastal views, so it’s well worth the trip. Rain or shine, Admiral Arch is an unforgettable spot that shows off Kangaroo Island’s...

Experienced one of the best Sun set at Admiral Arch Kangaroo 🦘 Island. Admirals Arch is a natural rock arch created by amazing forces of nature It's situated within Flinders Chase National Park on Kangaroo Island. You can take an easy walk on a boardwalk around the cliff face. This leads you to a viewing platform overlooking the arch. The arch is sculpted by weathering and erosion from the sea over thousands of years. Fur-seals often play among the rocks. These dark brown seals feed at sea but return to land to...
