We had eagerly looked forward to visiting the Terrestrial Centre for several years. However, our recent visit left us disappointed with the below-average customer service provided by the lady at the front counter. The Centre offers visitors a choice between exploring the Ted Elliot Mineral Collection, the Unearthed Etheridge Museum, or a combination of both. Due to time constraints, we decided to focus on the Ted Elliot Mineral Collection, hoping to see a greater variety of Agates from Agate Creek. While the Mineral Collection itself was interesting, the section dedicated to Agates was rather small. Realising that my time might be better spent at the Etheridge Museum, I politely enquired at the front counter about upgrading our tickets to the combined option. To my surprise, the lady responded rudely, stating that she was unable to process the upgrade at her till. Her attitude caught me off guard, prompting me to wait outside for my wife and child to finish their visit. When they concluded their exploration of the collection, my wife requested to use the bathroom within the complex. However, she was informed that as we hadn't purchased the combination ticket, she would have to utilise the public bathrooms located outside and around the corner. It's perplexing why the staff at the Tourist Information Centre would demonstrate such discourtesy towards tourists, especially considering that positive visitor experiences are vital for all operators and businesses in the area. Not happy we will...
Read moreUnexpected surprise to find this in Georgetown. Even if you aren't into rocks and minerals it's still worth a visit. Very reasonable entry price too $8. But the best part of the visit here was the incredibly helpful Cindy who went above and beyond. Her knowledge of the region and all the sights and activities were second to none. But to top that after finding out I hadn't been properly prepared for the cold night temperatures she took her lunch break and went home to get me a jumper. Thank you Cindy. How do I know your name? Because we are right now sitting at Pinnarenni station Cafe wearing your jumper waiting on breakfast. Another great recommendation. Nadine...
Read moreStumbled upon this place while in town getting tyre repairs. One of the best mineral museums I've ever seen and I could have spent hours more here. Beautiful specimens and some really great descriptions of the local ones. The diary entries of the miner were fascinating. If you're in or passing through Georgetown, it's a must see. $10 for the Ted mineral museum and $10 for the adjoining Etheridge experience. $15 for both. Both are great. Please go and...
