A great little stop on our trip. The plaques with information about the stones were really good and we're all worth a read. The human sundial is fun to learn about and the kids enjoyed it. Cute little garden and gladioli in bloom when we went. The lookout was good for a higher view. The shop was cute but the service wasn't wonderful. I waited about ten minutes to buy a postcard and some biscuits with not so much as a 'I'll be there in a minute'. Quite a small shop area. The people in front of us went to wait outside for their coffees but the girl made a funny look in their direction and put them on the counter. It was only when I went out and let them know they were ready on my way that they got them. The girl should've gone out to give them to them in my opinion. The Scottish tablet was nice. Very sweet. Shortbread texture and tastes a lot like sweetened condensed milk. A nice novelty for the family to share but rather pricey at $6 for three small serves. The shop was more for ordering coffee and light meals than buying things but there were a few postcards, a few sweet treats to buy and some Celtic books for the enthusiast (quite a solid read though - textbook like). Quite an extensive collection of Celtic books in their library to read while you have a coffee. Definitely worth a visit, If only...
Read moreThis is a fantastic place and worth a visit. There are lots of tables around for picnics and plenty of room for dogs and travellers with caravans etc There is a beautiful walkway just above to walk around and view the town and surrounds. However the best part is the Crafters Cottage onsite with the best coffee in the area. The barista there is Thai and a fantastic artist with her designs on the top of each coffee. There is a nice fireplace inside the cafe and lots of outdoor sitting areas if you have a dog with you. The new playground equipment for kids is excellent and there are plenty of new toilets The cafe is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Of course the Standing Stones are a huge highlight. Whilst in town, don’t forget Sweaties Pies, which are renowned to be the best anywhere. The coffee downtown is generally...
