Stopped in here by chance on my way from Melbourne to Sydney simply because it was the closest winery to the freeway in the region and didn’t require a big deviation. I am so glad I did. A beautiful winery run by a warm and hospitable husband and wife couple who run the place and make the wines together. They’ve experimented with wine varieties that aren’t the typical ones you’d find in your local bottle shop at all and ones that aren’t quite typical of that region. I was at the winery for a reserved event. For the venue and prices the staff was not appropriate. When seated the staff did not explain the menu. We ordered our food and it came out at different times, two of the paying guest missed out on their food and were told they couldn’t do anything about it as “someone on your table must’ve eaten it on you”. We stopped off here on our way from Sydney to Melbourne as we were staying in Glenrowan. What a lovely surprise! Bob warmly welcomed us and told took us through a beautiful narrated journey of how the winery came to be. The wines are delicious and punching well above their weight for such a small family-run venture. The Durif and Reserve Shiraz are particular standouts.
