Gloucester Tops circuit — Attraction in Gloucester Tops

Gloucester Tops circuit is an excellent option for a shorter day walk, and is a great walk to get a sense of the astonishing diversity within the Gloucester Tops area of Barrington Tops National Park.

Set out from Gloucester Falls picnic area along Gloucester Falls walking track. You’ll walk through open snow gum woodland to Andrew Laurie lookout, on the edge of the escarpment, and on to Gloucester Falls lookout. Join River walking track, and wander amid sub-alpine woodland. Look out for swamp wallabies and grey kangaroos along this walk. In summer, bluebells, rice flowers and billy buttons are an extra treat. You'll then meet, Antarctic Beech Forest walking track, which features cool temperate rainforest with the canopy of Antarctic beech towering above the tree ferns and damp carpet of moss on the forest floor.

An Incredible Journey Through Ancient Worlds! ​Gloucester Tops Circuit, Barrington Tops National Park ​What a memorable visit! If you only do one hike in the Gloucester area, make it the Gloucester Tops Circuit (about 8km / 3-5 hours). This trail is an absolute masterpiece of biodiversity and scenery. It’s like walking through three different worlds! ​The first part takes you through the beautiful Snow Gum woodlands to the amazing Andrew Laurie Lookout (those mountain views!) and the spectacular Gloucester Falls. ​But the real magic for us was the second half—trekking through the Antarctic Beech Forest. It is simply stunning! Towering, moss-covered trees, giant ferns, and a cool, tranquil atmosphere. You truly feel like you've stepped back into the time of the dinosaurs in the Gondwana Rainforests. This 8km loop combines three popular walks in the Gloucester Tops to create a large circuit with diverse landscapes along the way.

Starting from the Gloucester Tops Circuit you will set out from the Gloucester Falls Picnic Area along the Gloucester Falls walking track. Enjoy walking through open snow gum woodland until you approach Andrew Laurie lookout, and further on to Gloucester Falls lookout where the river plunges over the valley below.
