Gym review: Staff always nice, nothing against them. Gym is VERY average. Old equipment, never updated. EVER. New equipment is needed (not just one unique piece which is also clearly used from another gym). There's enough space for additional equipment.
Generally there is enough equipment for a workout, but good luck when it's busy..! Equipment is in need of regular maintenance (tightening) and cleaning, but does not happen. Ripped vinyl is about the only thing that gets repaired quickly. Treadmills and rowers are old. Straps on the rowers need replacing. Exercise balls/ Swissballs usually under inflated.
I've found bolts on the floor before, or loose bolts on equipment and reported to the staff. NOTHING happens. Gym is dirty. Floor ok but nothing (equipment) is wiped down and marks on windows/ dirty windows are always. Marks even on the ceiling mirrors. I put some sweat marks on the windows myself to check and still see them 2 weeks later.. Not sure what the cleaners are doing?? Bathrooms regularly stink, as do inside lockers and soap runs out in the shows often. Hot water system inadequate in winter when obviously more people use it. Shower tap handles need repair. Old bottles, or items left in change room typically stay there and rarely removed. I've thrown out stuff myself. A lost and found bin is now provided at the front entrance to the gym. It is over flowing. It's gross. If you haven't claimed it in 1-2 weeks, throw it out. Sauna (is popular) but needs new ceiling vent (damaged) and floor is often dirty. Pool is good and seems well maintained though.
Seems money is spent on the food and beverage section and golf/ tennis facilities. Gym is very neglected. Why have a gym then? Why should I pay a membership? There are far better gyms for the same money. I only go for the convenience of proximity to where I live, but it's a bit annoying when what I pay for is sub par.. Serious gym goers or people in competitions don't come here. They are obviously at a better gym..
I see plenty of 1 and 2 star reviews with KDV in general and a response saying they will look into the issue or rectify it. Clearly this does not happen. It's just lip service..
I've going for years to KDV but am getting to the end of my want to attend due to the lack luster facility. I only use the gym so this review is mainly about it. I see new people come along but don't see these faces repeat and come back.
This gym needs a proper manager. One who wants to improve the gym and is allowed to do it and with funds. KDV should go and look at a professional gym. How it is run, the attentiveness of staff and maintenance; and the availability, quantity and newness of equipment. The difference is stark. They (KDV) will understand maybe then, why their gym is poorly...
Read moreFirst and foremost, the building itself a large mirrored glass wall, giving myself and my partner a feeling of, "one way mirror", therefore a judgement kind of feeling that may scare some before walking through the not so obviously entry. Tho, set on our mission of a family day out, we pursued. Not knowing what to expect on the other side of said 'mirrored' doors.
On entry we were greeted with a curved staircase to our right a see through to a terraced driving range straight ahead and to our left what seems to be a mini shoe and sports store with a counter barely visual behind all sorts of merchandise, confectionery and laminated signs. Behind all that was a happy young lady asking if she could help. Today's excursion was 'Foot Golf'. One of many things offered at the establishment. Spearheaded by tennis and golf. Once intentions known the young lady went on to explain the rules, how to play.etc. Having hired soccer balls(sorry football mad readers) I was then required to leave a "security" to confirm the return of said "soccer" balls. For $5 hire fee each I would've been more than happy to say, "keep the fiver,😉👉🏾", and take balls as a momento. None the less, drivers licence handed over and we are off.
We we're given direction back out the front, down a ramp, press button near gate to a well manicured area but couldn't help but feel a "removed" from establishment feeling. 'Tucked out the back', 'go to the neighbours property' kind of feeling. Something we quickly got over as we had each other. The course and game itself, great idea and use of the area. Foot Golfers share the fairway with Chip n Putters. Our tee to hole is a little shorter than our counterparts. But we'll done none the less, great use of space. We came to play not long after a few solid downpours so the course had some puddles here and there but was still fun none the less.
Foot Golf is a great equaliser. If we were to play Chip n Putt, as an avid golfer,I feel I would be spending most of my time giving amateur golf lessons to my family. Tho, kicking a ball is, almost ,universal and was pleasantly surprised how my teenage daughters went and partner to boot. So instead of giving shots and holes to my girls I really had to channel my inner Ronaldo and Beckham.
All in all a great use of space incorporating many sports in an area and once the mirrored barrier broken a great day out...
Read moreFull disclosure, i only use the golf facility. A great facility and the staff are professional and friendly, Severely let down by the state of the range balls and mats. On average there are less than half the balls purchased (pretty generous estimate) capable of giving a serious golfer practising, any feasible swing feed back. This is surely its purpose and the point of the exercise? I would imagine the range being the cash cow of the facility and there is no attention to detail in this area. Get rid of these useless archaic balls, if you add new! As you are loosing a lot of golfers business as the balls are dead (a well know fact to golfers on the coast). The additional knock on effect being the loss of revenue to cool clubs (a great set up and club fitting service) and the coaching professional team (really capable and award winning PGA pro’s) through lack of regular golfer foot fall to the range facility. The question being is this a driving range, or a place to take someone on a first date? Room for both, but accomodate for it’s actual purpose! I know which of the customers are likely to be more regular and which would earn the facility more revenue. Speculate to accumulate KDV at $17 a bucket and less than half the balls with dimples, not cracked or covered in caked on mud not to mention the range mats that look like a scabby dogs bed, do the math, i appreciate it’s your business and whoever manages this part of the facility (i would bet has never played golf in their life) really should obtain advice or be embarrassed with this low standard and lack of...
