The picnic area itself is very nice, the bathrooms were clean, there's a good number of parking spots and there's several bbq/table spots... BUT I can imagine during the summer it being very crowded so you'd definitely have to come early to get a spot. We didn't picnic though... We just passed through to do the hike to McKenzie Falls and back. The hike is beautiful and totally worth doing. It isn't paved but the trail is still very well maintained so you don't need hiking boots. And if you're not feeling ambitious enough to go all the way to McKenzie, just getting to Fish Falls is worth it as well.

Nice nature walk, 40 mins walk from here to fish falls. Better area to swim at fish falls than at Mackenzie falls. Zumsteins/Zumsteins picnic area mainly displays historic buildings and is very brief.

Great picnic area with flushing toilets, rover access to dip your toes in & a small historic walk to learn about Zumsteins. It is also the best place to access McKenzie falls from!

Ah the Grampians. Amazing landscapes to see on the way. Ample space to park with an overflow off highway carpark on the opposite side of the highway. Only a few meters away from the picnic grounds is the Mackenzie River. Take the track up to Fish Falls or a little further to Mackenzie Falls, well worth the hike. Or just enjoy the picturesque...

Great place to explore part of the Grampians. Picnic area has a few bbqs, picnic tables and public toilets. We have come here multiple times for the walk through Fish Falls to MacKenzie Falls and back. Lots of local wildlife to see here. We have seen wild emu, deers, lizards and lots of bird life....
