I'm not an experienced bushwalker. I once walked the shorter track with my friend and today I thought I'll do it on my own. I was only going for the 2.5km Tingalpa Creek Circuit which should've taken me 1.5 hours. The map seemed pretty straightforward, but somehow I managed to get lost... and its only when you are lost that you realize the number of forks on the way and the insufficient signage. I was stranded going back and forth and in circles for more than 3 hours. I was exhausted, hot and had finished my bottle of water and my phone was dying. My GPS couldn't help me either. At times it showed me close to Venman Rd and then it would show me farther away. I panicked and actually cried! Eventually, I called the Redland bay council hoping that there would be some park rangers to help me. They called the police and the police told me to download an app called Emergency+. It helped me with finding my coordinates and giving it to them. At that time, I was on the Venman Circuit which I knew was a 7 km walk. There was a sign on the track showing both the left and the right, but it didn't say how far each direction was from the parking lot so I wasn't sure which way to go. Considering being hot, tired and out of drinking water, I was scared that I might end up on the 6km direction. The police were good enough to come looking for me. I was really embarassed because where I had stopped and waited was only 300 meters from the carpark but I was so relieved to get back to my car. :) I will never go on a multi-track park on...
Read moreLarge bushland. If you spend one hour walking you are likely to see Kangaroos or Goannas. I also found an Echidna burrow under a log on the Venman Circuit. Easy to get lost. Trails are not adequately signed. Take a smartphone with internet access and google maps. I wandered onto private properly. The gate had no signs on it telling me so. The early closure time of 5:30 is a downer. You might be able to park two cars next to the gate if you want to be inside longer. Bushland trails connect to Ford Conservation Area from what I can tell. Some trails have very steep hills. Definitely bring a bottle of water. Parking area has restrooms. About 15-20 car...
Read moreThe volume of people visiting has increased dramatically over the last decade but it's still one of the quieter spots if you take the longer walk. There are several BBQs available for use and some basic toilets with tank water. I'd recommend taking hand sanitiser. Flooding occurs on both walking paths after rain, it doesn't close the tracks but you'll have to step over stones, this isn't suitable for elderly people. The shorter walk (2.5km) is easy and should be OK for people of all ages. The longer walk (venman, 7.5km) is quite hilly which makes it more strenuous than one may anticipate. It's mostly covered in shade from trees so sunburns...
