This was originally a cotton station which was owned by a private corporation back in England. This was a place where I use to hunt wild boars back in the early 90's and the first time, I had ever seen cotton grown in Australia. It was then bought by the Rudd Government as one of their buy back water schemes in 2007. It is said that our famous Henry Lawson had written various poems and bush stories on the very porch of Toorale Station. Very dry, open countryside, loads of emu, kangaroos etc. Free picnic and overnight camp ground directly at Darling River (no facilities, but there are public toilets at homestead 10 min drive). Spectacular scenery, no visitors at all, no entry. Access on very good unsealed road, no concern for 2WD cars, but road sign warns about becoming impassable on slightest rain. Great experience to...
