Whilst you’re at the Whitsundays, if you’re looking for something to do, head to Whitsunday Gold to try their coffee for it is one of Australia's largest coffee plantations!
The fertile valley where it is located houses over 140,000 Arabica coffee trees! Made into their special roast that they bag and sell as well as brewing up coffee at their cafe. The cafe has plenty of food options for breakfast and lunch, and a cheap and even reasonably healthy kids menu. It is also licensed if the parents fancy a drink. But whilst you’re there, you can see all the animals - Llamas 🦙 donkeys, goats, birds, pigs, parrots, galahs and even a talking Cockatoo. There’s also a kids indoor air conditioned play park that is open 8am - 3pm with a $9.95 admission for children and adults to play. A soft play style space with slides, a flying fox and tea cup rides. Located about 25 mins from Airlie Beach, it’s a pretty easy drive and easy to find opposite the Airlie Beach/Shute Harbour Road on the Bruce Highway, just 1 minute north of Proserpine. Plenty of parking on-site too.

It feels like a secret getaway. Right beside the main road/highway to Mackay-Townsville, however the large trees hide it from clear view and noise. Absolutely relaxing, great for a stretch and time-out from a long drive. They offer breakfast and also after 11am wood-fired pizza. Playgrounds for kids and a barn called the menagerie which features a walk in bird cage and various other adorable animals which tends to roam the land as they please. Several birdcages scattered around the cafe that feature their pretty and friendly birds, you can also ask to have one perch on your hand. Very cute! They have their own coffee blend, which I believe is grown and roasted there. It is one of the most mildest coffee flavours I've tasted, not acid or burnt and really does reflect the location. My partner and I absolutely love it and bought a packet to bring home. FOOD Amazing breakfast A+ Did not try the pizza. LOCATION Peaceful! A+ ENTERTAINMENT Animals galore! A+ Definitely a must visit place! You have no excuse if you're driving past!

Golden! Came for ground coffee for our camper. Couldn’t believe what a gem this place is. On our walk, we passed a menagerie with bird life galore, plus a couple of pigs and guinea pigs. Inside were more birds and stacks of plants, with a few peace lilies and anthuriums (faves). On our way back to the car (near the tourist info stop) we passed goats, alpaca and ponies. The coffee was so good we went back on our way home. This being a Sunday, they had a guy playing the guitar and singing. There’s a children’s indoor play centre, a fabulous cafe/licensed restaurant and lots to look at. If the food is anything like to e coffee, you’re in for a treat. Plenty of parking for all vehicles. Great for plant & animal lovers and of course foodies.

This place is in a lovely bush type clearing. When you first arrive there is a huge aviary filled with more birds than I could count. I will start by saying the playground is great but very little parents supervise their children & the staff are too busy & not within that side of the establishment enough to enforce any of the playground rules. There was many a head on because of children climbing up the slide & blocking the slide ect… so I had to do some extra parenting of other peoples children as well which kinda put a damper on my afternoon. The food was quick & very nice!! Super fresh, hot & delicious!! The only thing I cannot stand is the aviary & birds in smaller cages everywhere! I’m someone who feels very contact to animals but especially birds. The aviary has been closed since Covid I was told which is insane - rehome them or build larger enclosures with more in them! Birds aren’t there just be be lumped in big cages with 50 other birds so people can look at them & say “how pretty”. The birds in the smaller cages were absolutely FREEZING! It was about 12 degrees & pouring rain! I had to take it upon myself to pull one of the cages out of the rain because this beautiful ring neck was getting soaked! Nothing about the birds situation was or is okay. I have video of them shaking & have raised birds all my life so it crushed me to see them in such distress freezing & wet! I’m not sure if we will go back purely because the playground isn’t watched by staff (or parents) & the seeing birds broke my heart but it’s a shame because the potential for this establishment is insane! There is so so much more they could do. The birds could be spread out, have less birds per cage, have them not all lumped together but spread out on a walk so you can see them while going on a lovely walk! Then go inside & enjoy the playground (or build one outside as well & open up the back as a bag window to order/serve food. Then have a sandpit for smaller kids & a soft play area that is specific to smaller kids. Can’t fault their food or lovely service...

Underway on Christmas holidays we had a great breakfast at this venue but today on our return home decided to stop for takeaway coffee at 9am and were treated like criminals. Both my husband and I are fully vaccinated and entered the premise with masks as mandated by authorities. I completed Check In via the QLD App and as my husband realised he forgot his phone in the vehicle he left to the parking area whilst I continued and paid for our order. While standing at the window to collect our coffees I was told by a young female employee they would not proceed with our order unless my husband come back into the building and check in with his phone. A young male employee without a mask then asked if our order is for takeaway which I then confirmed even though I clearly stated this when I paid for our order earlier. I then told my husband to return and check-in while I left to the clearly unkempt restrooms. After choosing and using the better one of the two available I realised there was no soap or hand sanitizer in the dispenser at the basin. My husband in the meantime has shown his check- in with vaccination status to the young female a few seconds earlier prior to my return from the restroom however that seemingly wasn't sufficient as the unmasked young male insisted on verifying my husband's vaccination status as well before handing over the coffees. When I pointed the ridiculousness of these actions I was told anyone entering the premises should check-in. When I asked if that include someone waiting in the parking area such as my husband, I was given a clear " yes" as answer. This venue clearly prioritize an app that can no longer be used for contact tracing above the mandatory face masks for staff members and adequate hand-washing facilities which may help against spreading the virus. It is further clear that an infected or symptomatic (double vaccinated) person will be demanded into the venue for the sake of check-in and subsequently, help...

Had lunch here today 6th of October. Asked for a lunch menu and was told that lunch starts at 11am and we arent doing it right now, it was 10.55am. Dont understand why i couldnt of got the menu and placed my order. Its a their issue not a my issue customer is always right where I came from but however not in this establishment. Got coffees in the mean time, from a coffee farm you wiuld expect spectacular coffies baristed, well i have had better from the side of a road coffee van than what I received. Moving on to lunch. Got a local fish and chips and a grilled chicken ceaser salad. $41.85 later, asked what the local fish was staff couldnt tell me suspessions of frozen fillets. Little wait but however food came out. Starting with the local fish and chips, 2 extreamly small peices of batterrd fish, over cooked and chips where cold. Batter needs improving looked crisp but waznt pleasent to eat at all. Fish extreamly over cooked defenarly could taste it wasnt local. Chips where cold. Needed more tarte sauce. Chicken ceaser salad, large portion of salad not much sause no seasoning on this item at all. Could tell it wasnt fresh was just thrown togeather hard boiled egg that should of been better with a poached egg asked for that and was too hard for the staff know i know why. Had to ask for more dressing. Lack of flavour needed something else. Over all opinion extreamly expensive for what it is business praying on the tourists and they are getting it coffee isnt even roasted instore all is of site processed a dam shame. Would I come back is a big no. The animals cages need attending to stink and smell badly rats have infested some of...
