Stopped to check what the sanctuary is about. Camping is south of the road. Reception area is nice but looks unoccupied. Track to the campsites is 4WD only. The lake with the bird hides is to the north via Graded Road. You need to ford a stream to get to the entry. Bird watching would make more sense during dry weather when providing drinking water would lure the birds there for a snap. BTW Devil's Kitchen has a pair of nesting falcons...

Clarkesdale Sanctuary is down Graded road by the creek crossing on the left. There are two bird hides around the lake.It is well signposted and the walk is lovely.Found more birds by the creek than at the lake.Worth the trip, really enjoyed this one

This is a very special sanctuary for birds and plants. Thank goodness it's protected forever. Perfect for a day visit or you can camp here, tent , camper or caravan but you need to be off the grid, no power available and you must take your rubbish with you. There are 2 toilets and a shower with hot water. Also an outdoor sink for washing dishes. Someone comes around to collect your camping fee, cash only and very reasonable. A couple of years ago (probably 2019) we paid $10 per night but not sure what it is in 2021. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to chill with some lovely bushland walks around the camp ground and also down Graded Rd just across the road from...
