I am rating service, venue and beer here, not food. Service was excellent and I could not fault it, the staff were extremely polite, helpful and informative. The venue is brilliant and stays open until 9 am which is a rarity for a brewery/winery in this region of WA. Beer: I am a beer nut and have rated 1000s of beers in Australia and around the world (see 'a.dad.rates.beer' on Instagram.and I basically never give 10/10. 5 is average, 7.5 is good and 9 is outstanding. Boston 6.5% Squeeze is a NEIPA with classic deep yellow cloudy appearance. It has a creamy head and light tropical nose of pineapple and citrus hops. A good thick mouth is accompanied by a tropical mouth, good balance, and a slight bitterness on the finish that I would prefer wasn't there. Subsequent tastes see the bitterness less obvious, but it is there in the aftertaste. 7/10. Boston 5.7% The Right- Nut Brown Ale has a sweet dark malt and toffee nose and is rich brown but transparent when held to the light. It has a good creamy head and a lovely full and smooth mouth feel. Silky smooth with slight nuttiness and a tang on the aftertaste that makes me want more. Very, very drinkable. It is one of the best brown Ales I have had in a long time. I would be very happy to drink this one again. It could have a bit more of a nose, but that is the only fault I can find. 9/10. Boston 7% Cafe Quartet Chai Latte Spiced Milk Stout is blak with the slightest transparency if held up to a good light. This is a seriously nice and unique beer. Packed full of coffee, lactose, dark malt, chocolate flavours, and good hefty wack of alcohol flavours to create a great balance. It leaves you with a milky sweet chocolate taste in your mouth, which is most pleasant. The white head disappeared a bit quickly but returned if you swirled it. 9/10. Boston 9% Pecan Pie Imperial Porter is gorgeous and so black nothingvshines through even when held up to a good light. It is like a creamy alcoholic cola with coffee and cream added for good order. It is way, way too easy to drink. No bitterness on the finish, it is sooo smashable, it is dangerous. The most pleasure I have had since drinking Velvet Sledgehammers at the Tasdie in during Happy Hour. Even Denise likes it, and she normally hates dark beer. The tan head did disappear after a while, but a swirl gave some back, and thevpalate was naturally creamy, so it is not much of a fault. 9.5/10 Boston 5.5% Pumpkin Ale looks like a yellow Pale Ale. It has a strong spice smell like a good fruit cakevor Christmas pudding. Ginger, Cinnamon, and Nutmeg dominate the pumpkin until you taste it. Goes well with Spiced pork belly. 7.5/10 Needless to say I am impressed, but I must add, the attendant was so helpful, he allowed me to pick the 4 beers I liked best and the one my wife liked best from tasting about 10 of their extensive range of beers. He also said the Pumpkin Ale (my wife's beer) went well with spicey pork belly which it did, even though though the PB was a...
Read moreThere are a gazillion of these micro breweries along the south coast. No matter what vibe you're after, you'll find it.
This one seems to be a quite special. It's popular (very popular!), but not to the point that it's become 'all about money'.
We couldn't make a booking with such short notice, but they said we could just arrive and wait. We got in at around 2pm and immediately got a table.
Atmosphere: There was a bloke playing guitar. He was great! People were really enjoying it, lots of dancing - lots of very 'festive' folks. The place has a super atmosphere, very relaxed. There is a TON of stuff for kids to do (playground, big garden, and a funky basketball-type contraption that kept ours amused for hours). Dogs are welcome. There were a lot of them. They were all leashed, so I assume this is a requirement (and a logical rule).
Service: Service was great. There seems to be a young bunch doing the active work, but they're knowledgeable and experienced, and seem to be passionate about what they do. Example: They accidentally cleared our table before the kids had finished their pizza, while we weren't at the table. We asked them to see if they could salvage the pizza and they brought us a brand new one!
Food: well..check the pics. They speak for themselves. Chicken parmy - Delicious. I put away a whole rack of ribs, and the kids did a pizza.
Beers and booze: great selection. They have multiple tasting paddles to suite different tastes. They have a few beers, good cider, ginger beer, and even the flavour-of-the-day gose stuff for those that like salty fruit juice..
Price: I'd say overall pretty good. Much of a muchness when you visit a micro brewery. It's going to cost a bit for a good afternoon, but you should know...
Read moreVisited the Boston Brewery today and watched the running of the Melbourne Cup. Well we didn’t have a win on the cup but we had a win with the Brewery it’s self We had a spectacular lunch topped off with some great wines and Boston Beers. This was the perfect way to view the cup. The meals were delicious everyone couldn’t stop talking about them. We had mind blowing gorgeous lamb shanks they are tremendous possibly the best I have tasted, beef cheeks wow my wife thought they were brilliant , crispy pork belly which tasted Iam told as good as they looked great, tender and tasty chicken pasta and grilled Barramundi and veg which was so delicious that it was spoken about for 20 minutes after being devoured. No joke the meals were as good as you will get anywhere. The portion sizes were huge but glorious, so no tea for us tonight. What an unreal place the drinks were beaut and greatly appreciated but the food was first class and presented so professionally We rested outdoors in the lovely garden area after lunch and the cup like beached whales but very content. What a way to spend the day there should be more days like this I think You must try this place you won’t regret it. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff are super efficient Way to go...
