We had a bit of time to spare in between planned visits around port Macquarie and just happened to come across this on Google and decided to check it out. The access is a bit difficult and I d recommend and 4WD for sure (although I saw a Toyota Corolla hatch braving the gravel tracks that lead to this). You need to drive about 5-6 km on gravel roads before you can reach the parking lot. The allowed speed limit is 60 but I don’t know how you can do anything above 20 on that road. Once at the parking lot, it’s a nice 300 m trek into the rainforest. We did it on a nice sunny 27 degree day. It was a bit unnerving driving without seeing a soul into the rainforest and also not seeing anyone else at the car park or on the trek. But in the same vein it was thrilling as well. The tree itself is magnificent (confess that am illiterate as such on botany or plants). Definitely a photoworthy spot. You can easily squeeze this in under an hour in...

We tried to reach this place on a family Sedan but had to return 600 meters to the tree. As the road condition deteriorated with water and mud together with the narrow and uneven road itself. I was told to head back by two cars turning back. Unfortunately we weren't successful in getting to see this divine tree, but the kids enjoyed the...

As for the tree the carpark was tiny and we were the only one's there and felt pretty guarded so we got out of there pretty quickly and never even got to see the tree. Would I recommend it? No probably not unless with a...
