Hill End is a go to place for my family. We visit at least a couple times a year. Whilst we love the area it seems to be taken over by people that think leaving their rubbish behind is ok, this is prominent down by the Turin river on the Bridle Track. So very disappointed with just how much garbage was there. We took as much with us as humanly possible but only made a dent in what was really there.

Camping by the river is always a good time. The kids love it. Plenty of room for everyone and plenty of exploring to be done. There are open mine shafts so taking the required precautions should go without saying. There are plenty of tracks to take a look at if that's your thing or trying your luck with some gold panning...

A totally unexpected discovery that we stumbled across and after a hearty pub lunch at the Royal Hotel, we spent the afternoon walking the remains of the ghost town and learning from the informative displays, the incredible 1872 photography (including portraits of townsfolk in the height of the gold boom). The remaining buildings are fascinating and sit next to vacant lots that once contained historic structures that are preserved in display boards including research info, old photos, and paintings by famous Australian artists during the 1950s and 1960s. We were enchanted. Unfortunately ran out of time to go to the Hill End museum. But hope to...

The journey is a bit long, but it's worth the trip. Regular 2 wheel drive cars are accessible, Asphalt roads. If you fall in love with history, historical buildings. You shouldn't miss coming here. You will feel impressed in the old atmosphere of history, the pleasant nature, the tranquility, the kangaroos, you can walk and discover the historic heritage of Hill End on Village walking track. You should bring sunscreen, hat, drinking water. Food and snacks should bring in case you may arrive here at the time the cafe closes. You should bring clothing for the cold and the rain. At evening, the temperature can drop. Price is free for village...

Well worth a visit. The info centre is very poor and the video almost invisible when the sun was shining. Inherent is supposedly available but didn't seem to do much, especially with you 10Mbytes. The cafe next door offers a much better starlink service. The whole town is very well presented with numerous picnic tables, signs and old buildings to look at. It's a pity there isn't a bit more of them old mining infrastructure to lookout. Lots of goats and kangaroos. Fantastic. Some excellent lookouts that are easy to get to. Probably best avoided when the temp is high. At all other times it would be great
