Guitar heaven! A thorough exhibition of all things country music. There are two parts; the Tamworth Gallery of Stars Wax Museum and the National Guitar Museum. There are numerous famous Country Music stars throughout the Wax Museum with a small write up describing their life and claim to fame. This part is very well done. The second part is the National Guitar Museum which contains a comprehensive collection of guitars and music memorabilia. Not to mention the Golden Guitar at the front of the property and the first thing you'll notice driving up. Highly recommended. Get there early to avoid the huge crowds. Got a bit disappointed by a "warm welcome". After 3 hours drive, upon walking into information centre/gift shop, we got "Oh, you shouldn't have come. You shouldn't be here. Please go outside" in return to a friendly smile and "Hello, how are you?" from us.
I understand that most likely there were some new Covid restrictions coming into play, which we weren't informed about, since nobody greeted us at the door or there were no sign saying that we should wait before going in.

Read moreWe popped into the Tamworth information centre and was welcomed by Alison. The Big Golden Guitar is massive and we both had our photo taken with it. Alison was such a breath of fresh air. She asked where we were from, where we are going etc. We explained we had come from Wollongong then Dubbo to Tamworth ,Grafton then Nelson’s Bay back home. She advised us about the fires and the road conditions the way were going to go and suggested we go up through Glenn Innes. We didn’t have time to do the wax museum but was just $7 Well done Alison we both walked out saying what a great job for a friendly personable person...
