We came here for my Dad's birthday this weekend gone and had a lovely lunch in the Shed. For such a small menu, there were plenty of vegan/dairy free options or alterations. The vegan main (radish fritter) was great and obvious that the kitchen had put effort into creating the dish (which cannot be said for everywhere). We found it very noisy because it was a busy lunch sitting, but something to dampen the sound may make for a better dining experience. Also, the staff were sometimes difficult to get to the table (for example, to order more wine or get our water refilled). It was clear that this is because it was busy while we were there, so I don't think it was the individual staff's fault for this. That said, the interactions we did have with the staff were great - they were very friendly and...

My sister and I brought my mum here for a birthday lunch and had a lovely time. We sat out on the verandah of the cottage that has been converted into the cafe and tasting rooms. Even in the middle of winter it was a beautiful day outside with the sunshine coming down and a spectacular view onto the river. We had very friendly down to earth service from a young woman who was extremely attentive. The food menu is small, but the food pairs very well with the wine options and there’s lots of local produce on the charcuterie board. $10 per person allows you to try all 11 of the wines that the vineyard are currently selling, which was very good value. This is not a fancy experience (such as you might get at Frogmore Creek) but a beautiful option for a casual...

Derwent Estate was the first stop on our wine tour and set the bar impossibly high for the rest of the tour! Edie was welcoming, engaging and knowledgeable without being pretentious, so we felt really comfortable and had a few laughs as she guided us through the tasting. The grounds were absolutely stunning, and the food didn't disappoint (try the pate... it will change your life!!). Onto the wines... as a pretty dedicated pinot grigio drinker not only did I discover the BEST pinot gris I've ever tasted, we had our eyes opened to a number of other varietals that will be on the rotation from now on. Recommend the vintage sparkling, the 2021 resiling and pinot gris. By far the most charming cellar door and delicious wine we experienced on our trip...

For locals or visitors, Derwent Estate and its restaurant offers a perfect weekend escape on the shores of the Derwent Valley. It’s an operating vineyard, with an excellent selection of wines and a great tasting room, as well as a fantastic restaurant in the Shed. The restaurant offers a small and very high quality menu, supported by a great wine list, and allows you to dine with views over the vineyard and the Derwent River. We even got to watch the black faced sheep and their lambs frolic in the vineyard close to the restaurant. Plenty of accessible parking, great and attentive staff and comfortable and spacious seating. It’s popular, so you need to book!

Good range of whites and nice Cab Merlot and Lime Kiln Pinot. Averages about $30 a bottle. Charming view of the Derwent river as well. The house is from the 1830s and as a result the doorways are pretty low so make sure you duck if you’re above 6 foot. Staff are very pleasant and waved the $5 tasting fee (though we also bought four bottles). Close to Puddle Duck and a range of other wineries. They’re planning some works on it so it’ll be shinier in the near future but right now it’s got a rustic charm and good wine.

Very happy with my meal at Derwent Estate Restaurant and our waiter was absolutely lovely, he gave us really great tips about the wine to pick with our meal, very knowledgeable. I really recommend the small dish BBQ lamb ribs and the bread with beer butter! The fish was also delicious. This is a beautiful place lovely in summer and winter with a beautiful view. It is great for everyone as there is no a la carte mandatory which allows everyone to get what they want. Thank you for having us yesterday!
