Visiting Taroona Beach in December is a delightful experience, as Tasmania’s summer weather creates the perfect conditions for enjoying this picturesque coastal gem. Located just 10 kilometers south of Hobart, Taroona Beach is known for its tranquil waters, scenic surroundings, and peaceful atmosphere, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. The beach’s pebbly shoreline and crystal-clear waters invite visitors to relax, swim, or explore the marine environment. While the water can be refreshingly cool, it’s ideal for a quick dip or for paddling with family. For those interested in marine life, snorkeling near the rocky areas can reveal fascinating underwater ecosystems. Taroona Beach also offers spectacular views of the Derwent River and nearby cliffs, providing a great backdrop for photography or a picnic on the grassy areas. Walking along the shoreline, you might spot native birds or enjoy the gentle sea breeze. December is an excellent time to visit, as the longer daylight hours allow for leisurely exploration. Don’t miss the historic Taroona Shot Tower nearby, an iconic Tasmanian landmark with panoramic views. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or outdoor adventure, Taroona Beach in December is a serene escape that showcases Tasmania’s coastal beauty.

Very quiet and peaceful spot that is calm most days and also a very clean beach that you could go for a swim as there is old shower rooms to change in that are no longer functional. However if you do go for a swim there is an outdoor cold shower to get cleaned up. There is also a good outdoor workout area and a kids playground for the little one’s taking in some beautiful coastal views . If you like coastal walks there is a short one hear to be done which seems to be popular with a few of the locals . There is a nice free public BBQ area hear sheltered and there is a water tap located on male end of toilets for Clean up of drinking.

Beautiful beach with a boat ramp. Just on the foreshore there’s the coastal discovery trail that connects as part of a longer trek. There’s also BBQ, benches, a playground, an old school outdoor equipment area, and toilet block. We saw happy doggies and their walkers come and go, people go snorkelling, and someone head out onto the water on a canoe. It’s a great life here!

As Landscape photographer from Indonesia who travel to Tasmania as Backpacker. I love everything on the beach, i just dont like the street lights. It is too close to beach side and i hope i had toggle to turn it off for 15 mins or 30 mins. I cant shot beautiful foreground with milkyway cause the street lights shines to my foreground and creating my tripod shadow to sand and rocks and ruining everthing.

I expect too much about this...
