What an incredible place!
We stayed here for the first time for 3 nights (30/04 - 03/05), and our experience was nothing short of wonderful.
After reading some of the more recent reviews (after having already booked), it had us a bit sceptical and worried about whether we were going to enjoy our time here or not, but the 3.5 hour drive was absolutely worth it and I'm glad we went through with our stay.
There seems to be a lot of complaints about the staff and management of the park being rude, aggressive and having lack of customer service, but from our experience, there is no truth to any of it.
The ladies at the kiosk were so lovely and helpful. Raymon was amazing. Every encounter with him, he was very welcoming and insightful. He did come around on the buggy, but that was only to let us know about the animal feeding. We personally did not feel that we were being "watched" nor harassed as other reviews seem to claim.
The toilets were always clean and functional. The showers not so much - but that's because those who use the facilities apparently don't know how to clean up after themselves - this is not a reflection of the parks cleanliness, just the laziness of the campers **perhaps placing mops and/or floor squeegees in the bathrooms may encourage people to clean up after themselves?
The playground and animal feeding were a huge hit for the kids. Our pup loved her scenic walks and was in heaven with the menagerie of sticks to play with. The camp kitchen is huge and a great asset. We loved that they had the option of activities (movie night etc). The grounds are well maintained and the surrounds are just stunning and so peaceful.
Our days were spent lazing by the fire and relaxing (for once) watching the kids run amok and making new friends.
It was (hand on heart) the most relaxing and easy camp trip we've had in a long while and we can't wait to come back for a longer stay next time!
To address some of the negative reviews I spent HOURS reading:
There are multiple complaints about the T&Cs, how they are unreasonable and that there are too many - I'm not sure where most people have been camping previously, but all of the T&Cs are what we would expect at most camp grounds. The list of T&Cs seems like a lot, but to us, Borumba has just stated what should really just be common sense that other parks expect but don't put in writing.
Being "told off" about where to park & set up - we received an email prior to check in instructing us exactly where to go upon arrival, and then the lovely ladies at the kiosk provided a site map which was clearly mapped out, making locating our site (as first time visitors) a very easy and stress free arrival.
Day visitors - I've seen a lot of complaints about arriving early & sitting with the group as well as coming to just visit friends/family - it is VERY clearly outlined on the website as well as on signs upon entry into the park about the fees, so anyone who states they "didn't know" about the fees, clearly ignored all the signs (quite literally) and/or thought they were exempt from paying them...
Losing power - we personally did not have an issue with the power. However, I can see how it would overload when the placed is booked out. BUT again, in the T&Cs, it clearly states to not use high voltage appliances. I'm sure you can live without your aircon, TV, coffee machine and icemaker for a few hours. Maybe bush camping isn't for you if you can't do without the luxury items for a weekend 🤷🏼♀️
Rude & aggressive staff - not true. Again, they were all so lovely and helpful. Those who have complained about them being rude & aggressive are probably the same ones thinking the rules don't apply to them OR those who did not read all the T&Cs before deciding to visit and then get a rude shock when its not the free for all they thought it would be... I get cranky at my kids when I have to be repetitive, so I 100% commend and sympathise the staff at this park who are ultimately babysitting anywhere up to 1000 people at a time.
This place is 100%...
Read morePrevious to the weekend I had emailed and rang up and made a booking. Because of a family event, I asked to have a spot for my caravan OPPOSITE my family in the 1st and 2nd cabin. Opposite is opposite. Where we were told to go we were not Opposite them. More like way above them. We are lucky we have on hand a long electricity lead and thankfully 2 water tanks that we moved down closer but not opposite. That was strike 1 Strike 2, I unfortunately had a fall, slipped in the mud walking the hike to the amenities block about 4am. Not anyones fault but mine but how disgusting is the amenities block. In the disabled Loo/Shower, the shower rose wouldn't stay up so I moved over to the one marked families. Holy hell, well shower rose stayed up after I done up the butterfly knob a bit. The taps back covers hanging off the wall, the taps not firm in wall. The rubber mat to stand on was sticky. But the worst thing is here I am in the shower, hurt and bleeding and muddy, having a shower waiting for hubby to come back with shower and cloths stuff and the light went out. Yes the light went out. No light switches nothing. so no shower, got wiped down and dressed and hubby helped me back to the caravan. This I feels falls under safety big time. Disgusting. We arrived Friday and left on Sunday and in that time I did not see that amenities block cleaned. Also when you book in there is no information about if water is drinkable, if there is a laundry or not. If you stayed in a cabin you would see a notice not to drink water boil it. We didn't get that information. If you stayed in a cabin they are ok. but the bathrooms near work and also what amazed me is how the cabins got through council with out a proper barrier around verandah and a handrail on steps. The verandah as it is at present is a damager. As a dog owner I don't have a problem paying $2 per dog per night but bond of $50 yes I do, especially on the behaviour form I got it states all pets are to remain quiet and it goes on, refund of the bond is at the management decision. Yes it was nice to see the deer close up and have a grassed area to put the shade sail out, but the above has done it for me. Imbil has another resort where we have stayed and it far out done this park. We will not be returning to this park and I believe the amenities block needs urgent attention or a bulldozer. really no stars doesn't...
Read moreA Wonder Stay at Bootumba Deer Park despite the weather!! Exceptional Service in Every Way🩵 Myself my husband and children recently stayed at Bootumba Deer Park and had the most incredible experience, thanks in no small part to the amazing service from Charlie and Debbie. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for, even under quite difficult circumstances. Our visit happened to coincide with a large group that unfortunately brought a somewhat belligerent and dismissive energy to the otherwise peaceful and community-minded campground. Despite this, Charlie and Debbie handled the situation with such professionalism, grace, and warmth, ensuring that all other guests still had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Their commitment to the comfort of every camper was clear from the outset, including to those in the very large group. The service we all received was honestly above and beyond anything we’ve experienced. Every little detail was thought of, from firewood being delivered directly to our site, to heartfelt conversations and practical support when needed. Their attentiveness, kindness, and genuine care were given in abundance, and it truly made our stay feel special. The park itself is a delight—peaceful, charming, and full of beautiful creatures. We absolutely adored spending time with the deer, goats, and “duckies,” which added a magical touch to the entire experience. It’s clear that the animals are well loved and a cherished part of the community at Bootumba. We loved the outdoor camp kitchen, which is a fantastic setup. During rainy weather, movies were arranged in the camp kitchen, creating a cozy, communal space that brought everyone together. It those thoughtful touches that we will remember, You guys really go the extra mile in order to keep guests entertained and comfortable, no matter what. In every way, Bootumba Deer Park exceeded our expectations. Charlie and Debbie are the heart of this place, and their tireless efforts did not go unnoticed. The staff simply couldn’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. If you’re looking for a place that offers nature, comfort, and true hospitality, We recommend Bootumba deer park. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you for...
