I'm giving a 5 stars rating for the wonderful experience I had!!
The Llama farm spans over 80 acres and overlooks the Pine mountain range. Although it seems to be high up in the mountains, it is only a 15-minute drive from Ipswich.
It is a beautiful drive surrounded by trees and is 3.4km past the Kholo Botanic Gardens. This last stretch of road is a dusty, narrow, and winding gravel road. (You will need a car wash once you get back!)
The atmosphere of the farm is calm and beautiful and the air is so fresh.
The tour began with an introduction about the farm and fascinating information about the various animals found on the farm. There are 70 llamas, camels, donkeys, miniature horses, rabbits, peacocks, peahens (pea fowls!), hens, turkeys, etc We were told that the farm is also visited by wild species such as kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and platypuses. This interesting and educational introductory talk was delivered by Shane, who owns the property.
The tour included camel feeding, donkey and horse brushing and petting, llama feeding and finally petting rabbits and a hen. Shane was kind enough to photograph each group of visitors individually with the llamas and rabbits!
Despite all the hard work that goes into maintaining the farm, it must be wonderful being able to live amidst nature!
There is space to park your cars at the entrance. There is also a souvenir shop at the entrance. Entry requires a ticket that you must purchase in advance online. Proceeds from the sales are utilized for the running of the farm as well as supporting local communities.
Overall, it was an amazing experience that was beyond my expectations. It is a must visit place for adults and kids alike and a great place to nurture a love for...
Read moreUnfortunately there was no warning that before the 2hr tour is over, you will want to sell your house to move to the countryside and become a llama farmer yourself. The kids and adults loved every minute of the tour and our guide Shane was super friendly and engaging. Great photographer too, he took plenty of snaps for people on their phones. Booking are essential which means group numbers are small. Think of it like a boutique farm animal petting/feeding tour that you can enjoy at a relaxed pace. I've been to other petting zoos where it's a free for all screaming kids carnival and you just end up feeling sorry for the stressed animals. This was not the case here, where the animals are living like royalty and are soooo friendly. We visited Seaworld and Australia Zoo earlier in the week and much preferred our visit to The Llama Farm 100x over. Be aware that there is about 2km of unsealed road to get to the farm. Be sure to grab some cool llama themed souvenirs on the way out - they're quite cheap considering the quality. I'd rate it 10 stars if I could - 5 is an insult to how cool this place is and it's an absolute bargain of...
Read more✨ A Llama-tastic Experience at The Llama Farm in Ipswich! 🦙
We recently spent an unforgettable afternoon at The Llama Farm, and it was pure magic from start to finish. 🌟 From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in the world of these gentle, curious creatures.
The experience kicked off with learning all about llamas, their unique personalities, and how they’re cared for. We also had the joy of feeding camels (they're surprisingly charming!) and meeting Donovan, the charismatic stud donkey who quickly became a favorite.
The highlight of our visit was taking our own llamas on a guided walk around the beautiful property. 🦙 The stroll was both relaxing and fascinating as we soaked in the scenery, learned about the area’s recent flood history, and, of course, snapped heaps of photos to capture the magic.
Whether you're a local or just visiting, we can’t recommend this experience enough—it’s an absolute must-do in Ipswich!
