My 11 year old son, his mate and I headed out to take on our first ever mountain bike trail. It was a brilliant day. The pea gravel was tricky, but as we were first timers doing this, we were travelling quite slow through the tracks. We started off randomly from the car park but after about 40mins of riding aimlessly we arrived at the Langford Park Information Sign. From there we were set. We did stop for a toilet break, however the amenities at the main car park were occupied by a massive bee hive. Fortunately there are other amenities a short drive down the road opposite the local skate park.
Tips from what we learnt: Follow the pavement path from the car park, up the hill. This will take you to the information sign where you can choose your tracks. Take plenty of water, and some snacks. You don’t want to leave early because you got hungry or ran out of water. Take your time and enjoy yourself. It is a really beautiful place. Take a camera If Mountain Biking, pack a tyre repair kit. Our day ended with my sons mate getting a puncture after jumping off a black track drop off. Be mindful of wildlife and insects. We had wasps occupying the first section of car park, and the bees occupying the toilets. This is their home, we respected that and just stayed clear of those areas.
I hope this...
Read moreBack as a child, (in the 80's) this place was very serene and extremely well maintained for a rehabilitated mining area, The lawns, man made lake, adventure playground, and picnic areas was really a credit and an asset to the serpentine and jarrahdale areas as a beautiful sort of hidden place in the forrest. As it stands the Toilet block is great and free gas bbqs virtually untouched (A1).....the lake is not nothing but a dirty dryed up corner in the park blocked off by an cyclone fence, Everything seems dirty and unmaintained (whatever is left, that is), Signs gone taken down, the bitumen roads are in a very bad state of dis-repair and have almost been completely reclaimed by the bush, it seems nobody cares for this area anymore. It very sad that this place will eventually disappear. Top spot......However no money it seems to keep it...
Read moreSuch a lovely little bushwalk way out in the woods. It was serene and beautiful. Plenty of parking available and toilets at the carpark. Picnic benches as well. There is a choice of two tracks for walking with one being a 15 minute loop and the other being a bit more challenging and probably a 45 to an hour loop. Lots of markers along the way so you don't get lost. There's also riding tracks and plenty of fun...
