Hidden little gem with it's own distillery. Tour of the distillery and tasting was quite interesting. Staff/owners were lovely and knowledgable. They brew there own scotch, gin, ouzo and have there twist on a beautiful port. I purchased the port and ouzo to drink straight even tho I'm not an ouzo drinker. Scotch will be purchased when its restocked. Self guided tour of the heritage listed site was great fun and interesting to do with my son. Would be good to see guided tours down the track but that costs big dollars to set up and run. 1300 people lived her back in the early 1800's, mostly Welsh as they knew how to mine. Definitely worth a visit if you like to explore, alcohol tasting or understand a little of our heritage. Enjoy :)

A great tour and well priced. Cant wait for the self guided version (hopefully in a couple of years). A lot to see and great work on conserving some of the buildings 👌. The tours only run a few times a year at present so get on their mailing list for notifications about when they are on. The distillery is open most weekends though and the cafe so still worth a visit

You need to book a tour if you want to visit the historic site/ruins, they run about twice a month on Saturdays. The tour is very informative and quite fun on the special trolleys. The owners are doing a great job with this piece of history in their garden, go support them!

No tours any more due to hike in insurance / local government laws etc , such a pity , a serene very pretty habitat , would definitely suit cabins to rent . however you can have a tour / talk in the Distillery , weekends only . Ve r y interesting / informative . Available for sale and tasting , Brandy , Gin , whisky , Ouzo and sherry . Toilet facilities , shelter shed , picnic tables ( only to use on guided tour and catered for by owners of land including historic town of Joadja .) . Joadja site was made by the miners who used the shale to make kerosene . Well worth a visit , support an...
