Very interesting and beautiful park, the main camping area is a bit more packed in than it could be considering the size of the park (it is huge). Has a composting toilet which is a nice touch. Has several hiking trails but these appear to be full day hikes for most people. Pay attention to where you are driving as there are multiple entry and exit points to the park, if you are continuing on to another town you may end up driving several hours more than required if you choose the wrong exit as I did.

Camped at the Little Boomerang Waterhole which is what you will find at most parks, just a drop toilet. Camped right beside the Barcoo River, this NP is huge. There are 3 drives well worth taking, The River Drive, The Desert Drive & The Mulga Drive and all show you a different aspect of the park, from flood plains to red sandy dunes then to rocky jump ups, this park has lots to offer. We spent 2 days here but you could easily do more, just remember it is isolated and you need to be self sufficient.

Great park a credit to the two park keepers. After a massive flood, all but a couple of roads and camp ground were open. Park was covered in flowers and heaps of bird life. They're hoping the camp area will be opened in a couple of weeks so if in the area pay a visit πŸ‘πŸ˜€

In this one park you can experience a variety of different outback environments without having to travel thousands of kilometers. It has red sand dunes dotted with spinifex, gibber plains, Mitchell grasslands, Mulga scrub and rocky outcrops and gullies. The Barcoo river denotes the southern edge of the park and that is where the camping area is. Do not forget to take a fly net...
