Although only the stone wall ruins remain of the Kanyaka Station Homestead and work buildings, it is nevertheless a fascinating place to wander about and soak in a little of Australia's pastoral history. Although the walls were sturdily built in there day, time and the elements have witnessed a slow deterioration of the buildings. It does however not require a strong imagination to visualise the homestead in it's heyday. If visiting, make sure you drive or walk down to the old shearing shed as well. They may be the only stone built shearing sheds still in existence and are certainly...

Is definitely worth your time when traveling through to the Flinders Rangers. I was lucky to have visited whilst touring around the Flinders Rangers with Pindan Tours. Norm was very knowledgeable about it's history, giving us personal and sometimes touching account of the dream and struggle to establish a viable working station against the hash reality of this barren land. If your not fortunate to be on this tour with Norm there is information worth a read...

Wow what a place, a must see when traveling from Quorn to Hawker. A easy road access for all vehicles dont miss the walk to Death rock. Leave from the old Woolshed. That road looks a bit tough but was easylng going we had on our 16 ft van no problems. Take the Airogard water and a hat for the walk, its a couple of hours both ways at a leisurely pace. Could have stayed longer even though we spent the best part of half a day...

Disregard the moans and media hype over the 'hardships' faced by various groups in Australian society. Visit the outback and research the history of our Aussie pioneers. Those brave souls really knew hardship and battled to make a living in a very harsh environment. View Kanyaka Station ruins, read the family story and visualise bush life in the 19th century. Get off the couch and out of the cities into the real Australia.
