Kariong Brook Falls is a lovely waterfall in Brisbane Water National Park on the Central Coast. The waterfall is impressive after rain. Surrounded by rock ledges and lush vegetation, it feels like a sanctuary away from everything. The beautiful swimming hole at the bottom of the fall makes it even more inviting. You can walk to the waterfall along a walking trail through the quiet wilderness. Enjoy the serenity – all you can hear is the sound of the wind and the birds chirping. Kariong Brook Falls is a great spot to have a picnic and chill out and there’s ample space on the rock platforms. There are no facilities nearby so bring food and water. The nearest public toilets are at Correa Bay Reserve on Woy Woy Road. You can also walk to Kariong Brook Falls from Wondabyne Station (3.8 km) or Girrakool Picnic Area (9 km). Another option is to continue walking to Wondabyne Station from Kariong Brook Falls instead of retracing your steps. You’ll need two cars for that. The Falls looks like an enchanted world, surrounded by rock ledges and plunging into a large, deep rock pool. It's very lush and secluded. It's a great spot for a picnic. You'll find some space on the rock ledges beside the pool. You can swim in the pool if you don't mind the cold. The water is certainly refreshing.

Read moreKariong Brook Falls is a beautiful natural attraction located in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia. The falls are surrounded by lush greenery and offer a serene and peaceful setting for a picnic or a walk. The waterfall is not very high, but the water flow is strong and the sound of the falling water is very soothing. There is also a small swimming hole, which is perfect for a refreshing dip on a hot day.
The trails around the waterfall are well-maintained, however, as a person who is overweight, I found the walk a bit tough. It was a bit of a challenge for me to navigate some of the steeper inclines and rocky terrain. I recommend for those who have mobility issues to plan accordingly and bring proper shoes and water bottles.
The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds and lizards, so be on the lookout for them. The parking is also ample and the facilities clean.
The only downside is that the waterfall may dry up during the summer or during drought periods, so it's best to check the water level before planning your visit. Overall, Kariong Brook Falls is a great place to visit if you're looking for a peaceful and scenic spot to relax and enjoy nature. But if you have mobility issues, keep in mind that the walk may be a bit...
Read moreFrom Wondabyne station, the walk to the falls is around 1.5 or 2 hours long (one way) when constantly moving but not rushing. I would think if you ran you could do it within an hour or slightly less. Contrary to comments below about a 30-45 minute relatively easy walk, I would be extremely shocked if that were true (perhaps those people found a different start point along a fire trail?). There were people of all ages along the trail and it is certainly doable for a wide range of people if you take your time, although I noticed the older people were stopping for breaks more often and it looked like the same walk was taking that group at least 3 hours (we saw them leave 20 minutes before us, we passed them, and we waited at the train for at least 40 minutes before heading off but they never arrived in time to catch the train). The trains come hourly so if you miss one it will be a while before the next. It is a beautiful spot but it isn't very easy to get to, and if you fall, get lost, or get bit by one of the snakes in the area, hopefully your hiking buddy is strong enough to carry you out and up down steep paths to get you out of there because it would not be easy for any emergency crew...
