Godinymayin Yijard Rivers Arts & Culture Centre — Attraction in Katherine East

This was a gem discovery, we had not heard anything about it at all until we went there as part of a tourism Katherine familiarisation tour. Thankfully, our agenda changed from a drive past and info blurb, to a short tour through. So glad we did, the place was really good. The curator puts on an amazing display and we were given a calendar of events which looks awesome for 2018. Planning a few visits now to catch some if the wonderful events that are heading here. Very disappointing. I thought I was going to see some indigenous art or some sort of indigenous cultural exhibition/s. There was only one exhibition - it was quite beautiful - but representing a British born sculptor/artist. I think there should be a permanent indigenous art exhibit - and some true locally made items - not just the shops selling tea towels & table runners with aboriginal prints. A real pity not to really represent local indigenous art...

I attended an industry roadshow here. I was very impressed with the set-up of the conference room. Two large screens and an excellent sound system which meant that everyone could view and listen to the presentation with no issues.
